Like the guy who drank a bottle of fish tank cleaner, your idea might be harmful to the dimwitted.

I just take a couple wraps around my head with toilet paper and attach the end with duck tape.

Single ply or double ply?

“Re Etsy. There are many entrepreneurs out there making home-made masks available.”

Oh, I know. Most are. That’s why the one person charging just for a pattern really stood out to me. (Why would you charge in times like these?)

I inherited my best friend’s quilting stash when she passed in 2018. I still have bins, boxes, and shelves full of fabric, and that’s after donating more than half of it last year. She was a supremely generous person, so I think this will be a good use of some of that. Much of it is batik, which isn’t my thing, but I’m glad I held on to it, as it should be good for masks.

Wrapping your head in TP makes you a prime target for being mugged. :)

Here’s a pattern my friend has used to make about 300. Her nurse friend said they seem to like this best if they can’t get the real deal quickly.

https://www.cnet.com/how-to/homemade-face-masks-in-public-what-the-cdc-means-about-face-coverings-and-n95/

Here’s what one CDC site had to say about homemade masks then:

“In settings where face masks are not available, HCP might use homemade masks (e.g., bandana, scarf) for care of patients with COVID-19 as a last resort [our emphasis]. However, homemade masks are not considered PPE, since their capability to protect HCP is unknown. Caution should be exercised when considering this option. Homemade masks should ideally be used in combination with a face shield that covers the entire front (that extends to the chin or below) and sides of the face”.

LOL, there is no arguing with Darwin. Well, you can try. He won’t answer back. He’s dead.

Today I found the batik I bought when it would have looked good on me as a full-length sarong at the beach-maybe the 80’s. I was looking for elastic. I gave it away before Christmas. Still need elastic.

one person charging just for a pattern

That’s pretty ridiculous. Those with quilting/sewing skills and machines have the upper hand here. Glad to hear you’re one of ‘em. :^)
