You posted this... out of kindness I suppose.
The duet with Willie Nelson on Pancho and Lefty is one of his best, but his solo is also great. thank you.
Think I’ll just sit here and drink... With my Misery and Gin
That’s a great song ... Thanks.
Yeah, I almost forgot that one. My first ever band did that song back when I was 16 and just starting out.
Thanks for the remind.
I used to walk into this bar in Denver and play for all the beer I could drink till the house band started up back in late 70’s. Did a lot of Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, and George Jones songs. We called it Cry In Your Beer music. every once in a while the 9 o’clock band would go home and get their acoustics as well as one of the bartenders, who kept his in the back room, would play with me. I specifically remember doing Amie (Pure Prairie League) one night with the guys. Good times.
Thanks. I had never really read about Merle’s history. Didn’t realize that the years I knew him from seeing him around town that he was that famous. I just knew his songs were on every jukebox of every small or country bar in town. To everyone here he was always just Merle. Probably why he kept coming back to Bakersfield over the years. No one ever paid attention to him when he’d show up at some out of the way place and sit down at the bar.
