Since millions of us have been directed to stay home and shelter in place and avoid all needless, unnecessary travel, will our insurance payments and or premiums be adjusted down or waived during this crisis?
My driving has been reduced about 95 percent, not to mention not using/riding my motorcycle at all.
I suggest everyone call their insurance carriers and inquire about this. Maybe save some big money.
We don’t get that privilege in Caliland anymore....
(spit)
So are thousands of possibly millions expected to suspend their insurance and then turn around and reinstate once a week or every time they go to a store?
Would this not inundate or totally overload the insurance carriers not to mention being a pain in the azz for most Americans.
Why would the insurance carriers not simply waive or adjust our payments during this crisis?
With AARP you get a refund if the risk didnt meet the predictions. We get a refund every year.
Actually, you can put a temporary stop on insurance for a car not in use.
The key words are “stop insurance”.
Off topic , but car insurance is just one cost of many which people.could see changes to because of the virus.
For example, your gas expense may drop way off if you are driving a lot less due to staying home more.
But your electric bill may rise , if more people at home are spending more time online and watching TV, using more power.
If you eat out a lot, that part.of your expense will drop unless you continue to go to restaurants for carry out food.
Everyone will experience some changes such as these.
American Family has done away with low mileage discounts, but you can stop insurance on a car temporarily not in use.
Right now that would help people who have multiple cars but can get by with one for now.
No you don’t.
Rather than pontificating, check your insurance carrier.
American Family told me I could temporarily stop insurance on any of my cars by simply giving them the expected dates of stoppage and restart.
Snake Farm has a low mileage discount, among several additonal kinds of discounts, fyi
While youre at it, you might also check the policies to see if theres still coverage with declared states of emergency, insurrections, riots or Antifa mischief (should it occur in some of these large metro areas). You just might be SOL...
I bet the credit card companies don’t lower their interest rates either. Greedy bastards.
But no one forced me to buy a home or cars. It's not a requirement like insurance. No?
Do you think it's fair that most Americans have reduced their driving by about 90+ percent due to this crisis due to no fault of their own, and have been directed to stay home and avoid all unnecessary travel, yet the insurance carriers expect full payments as if nothing ever happened?
Not the same. Unlike insurance, we are not required to apply for or use credit cards.
That's ridicules. Do these carriers expect thousands or possibly millions to temporarily suspend their insurance and then turn around and reinstate once a week or every time they go to a store? Would this not inundate or totally overload the insurance carriers not to mention, due to no fault of their own, be a pain in the azz for most Americans to do this?
Here in Nevada stopping insurance on a registered vehicle will get you a hefty fine.
Are you joking?
And what if you drove outside one of those, "Expected dates"? Does everyone know the exact dates of when they might go to a store or use their vehicle during this crisis?
And can you imagine the work load for the carriers if hundreds of thousands had to supply these "Expected dates" to their carriers?
Because they're cousins.
Called mine today to see and was told they could save me $5 per month if I would be willing to give up the $100 (vs. $500) deductible I've earned with no accidents.
