Rather than pontificating, check your insurance carrier.
American Family told me I could temporarily stop insurance on any of my cars by simply giving them the expected dates of stoppage and restart.
That's ridicules. Do these carriers expect thousands or possibly millions to temporarily suspend their insurance and then turn around and reinstate once a week or every time they go to a store? Would this not inundate or totally overload the insurance carriers not to mention, due to no fault of their own, be a pain in the azz for most Americans to do this?
Here in Nevada stopping insurance on a registered vehicle will get you a hefty fine.
And what if you drove outside one of those, "Expected dates"? Does everyone know the exact dates of when they might go to a store or use their vehicle during this crisis?
And can you imagine the work load for the carriers if hundreds of thousands had to supply these "Expected dates" to their carriers?
