It honestly looks like you are correct probably 99.9% of the time, although I disagree about “lifestyle choices”. Nothing I did caused asthma. Obesity, faggotry, most Type II HTN, yes. You are correct. When the political momentum outweighs the medical recommendations things will change. If that occurs too quickly and this things spins up again the country, I don’t think, will survive.

A bit contradictory. On the one hand he says that the most damage is done by our immune system overreacting and on the other he says that the virus is effective because it keeps the cells from sending out the alarm to the immune system.

This is not a "dumb question." It is the very kind of information that all people could use in order to make an informed decision about whether to go out at all while the virus is still around.
If we were allowed to see every kind of data related to the people who (1)get the virus, (2)require hospitalization for the virus, (3)get intubation and 4) die from (with) the virus, we would be so much better off than just having the vague categories of ... the elderly and people with underlying health conditions.
I am adding "medications being taken by the patient" to my list that already contains age, sex, ethnicity, location, recent travel, known exposure to positive tester(s), specific underlying health conditions, other diseases, obesity and smoking.
Computers can crunch billions of numbers. These should be included and published.

However - that stated - you should know that there ARE triggers for asthma (not the attack, but the heightened sensitivity) which are GRAS by the FDA, including the plethora of chemicals we’re all exposed to from birth. The trick is ascertaining if one or more of them (synergy) apply to you (likely, IMHO).

8. Finally, to the brain damage discussion. This started up in the last day or two....both in the US and in Germany. In general....if you are on a prolonged artificial ventilation....there are issues which pop up....like permanent brain issues. In simple terms....dementia-like issues can occur.
So you could have a 40-year old guy, who was in the hospital....PhD-type background, and emerge with thinking-level of a nine-year old kid.

Seriously though- thsi is just another possible side effect- hopefully they get a vaccine soon- but likely it will be too late for many many folks
