Rural America is experiencing 'disaster gentrification' as wealthy Covid-19 evacuees from the hotspot cities flock to the relative safety of picturesque towns. In Blaine County Idaho, home to Sun Valley ski resort, more than half of the houses are rental properties. As of yesterday 228 had tested positive for the disease, around 10 percent of its population. 'People come here from all over the world,' ER doctor Brent Russell told the Idaho Statesman. 'When I'm in the ER, I get people from New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Seattle. Every week there's people from those places.

Dont go to any trouble keeping these drop-ins alive if there is a choice between their care and that of a local resident. If theyre so wealthy, they should bring their own physician.
Honest? Yes. Unlike the people in Eastern KY. London, Corbin, etc. If there’s sound coming out of their mouths, they’re lying.
Yep. That’s why you get Meghan Kelly tweeting from Montana.
Pick out any flyover country location and wax eloquent.
I live in E.Tenn. So it is easy, but my family is 8 gen. West (by gawd) Virginia which is fertile ground for loving and gentle mockery.
Like rats off a sinking ship. The trouble is, these rats will carry the virus with them.
Having that problem in 4 corners navajo reservation border towns. Reservation folks pouring in, emptying stores taking it all to the reservation. The navajo president telling non natives to respect their sovereignty and stay out of the reservation along with a 8pm/5am curfew on rez lands.
Our little farmers market has been emptied of so many items, on ebt fill weeks all you see are AZ and Utah, Colo. plates in the lot and full carts aplenty. Ebt is a racket as tribal members carry ebt cards from up to 4 states using family/friends addresses in all 4 states.
The market finally started setting buying caps so the locals could get a loaf of bread and some milk after the natives split back to the reservation. Sales are good for their business model, but the locals having to go to the nearest small town 6-8 miles away won't help them after this is over if they get used to shopping there instead.
Good one.
Just trying to keep out the self important, entitled, progressive fools
If they want to convert then they are welcome.
Blaine County, ID went for hitlery in 2016.
Graham County NC deep in the mountains booted out all the non residents and put up roadblocks. There’s only four or five roads that cross the county line. If you don’t have a county address on your driver’s license or have a vendor’s permit you’re not getting in.
And their filthy STDs, arrogant moralization and Covid19
Add on to that tornado season.
Don't move to OKLAHOMA..we have ticks the size of mice...
And mosquitoes the size of sparrows.
Not to mention the F-9 twisters....that roll thru here...
When a tornado drops into one of the hollars, entire communities can erased, usually if the storm track exactly parallels the ridge/valley corridor, the tornado drops into the valley and erases it. Doesnt happen to often, but when it does...
Dont mention the beautiful corn fed ladies...
Aint that the truth.
Yeah. We know. And they brought the virus with them to the more American states a couple of weeks or so ago.
I imagine the local officials have happily cashed the tax payments they have received over the years from the owners of the vacation homes.
We have a cabin/homestead (on grid) in the sticks. We decided that at this time, for this event, our suburban home is safer* and more convenient than moving out to the cabin. If we were in the aftermath of a major earthquake or zombies, we would consider moving out to the cabin.
Also, in a few years the homestead will be prepped better for long term retreat. So when the next China Flu hits in a few years we may be at the cabin full time already.
*safer because we have more prepper stocks at the suburban house and easy access to groceries, etc. compared to the homestead.
I could mention radioactive three headed frogs...
