Death Toll At Holyoke Soldiers Home Rises To 18
April 2, 2020 at 3:22 pm
HOLYOKE (CBS) Three more veterans have died and more have tested positive for coronavirus at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, authorities said Thursday. That brings the death toll to 18 at the facility that is now being investigated by a former federal prosecutor.
Today we are saddened to announce three additional deaths at the Holyoke Soldiers Home, and some additional COVID-19 positive residents at both homes, the office of Health and Human Services said in a statement. We extend our deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of the residents.
A total of 23 veteran residents and seven staff members have tested positive. All residents have now been tested for coronavirus and the staff is being tested as well.
The National Guard has been on site to support staffing needs and theres a new clinical command structure. But the state expects there will be more infections and deaths...

Problem is, Muslims think they are immune to it, they will let the Muzzies roam free.
As with all virus infections, initial dose matters. Especially one that is new to the species.
These Coronavirus Exposures Might Be the Most Dangerous

Both are easy to guesstimate. Add a zero or two to any number related to CV. Guesstimate how many bags off jellybeans in the jar, get online to see how many are in a bag, subtract 15 eaten by the person with the jar and there’s the number.
If he leaked it, Courts Martial is appropriate.
The operational status of a warship on deployment is classified. As are statements about any reduction in capability.
Again, IF he leaked it.
are those total deaths in other words....Did france have 4500 deaths today and 4032 deaths yesterday or was it 4032 deaths then add 472 deaths overnight to get to 4503 deaths today? I think they have had a total of 4503 deaths with many more recoveries. Does it go beyond the normal “me’lange noise floor of deaths for all causes in an abrupt way? don’t know.
Thanks.
Sweden is going for the day late, dollar short approach—better than nothing of course.
We can watch their numbers in the coming weeks.

New York City is now advising residents to cover their nose and mouth with a scarf, bandana, or a piece of clothing while out in public to limit the spread of coronavirus
Its add 472
Yes, and the real tragedy is the lateness compounds exponentially the number of deaths, down the road.
I think he leaked it to higher authorities—and they may have leaked it to the media.
We will find out more...
But—we are having a problem with doctors and nurses and other health care workers threatened with termination if they point out their hospital’s negligence with PPEs.
That is legitimate whistleblowing in my book.
The military is a tougher case—but again if a dumb admiral is risking the health and safety of a crew—I can totally understand the captain risking sanctions and speaking out on their behalf.
Big story on NYC—glad to see it.
I'm NOT faulting you for their false data. ONE day after it was published it was already over estimated by thousands dead.
said, "'ve been tracking this since the 18th of March. My projection was dead on @ 1,000 deaths on 1 April"
Where are you getting your information from? I have today is 708 death in the US which is up from yesterday.

Steve:
NY does a data dump, usually at 6PM which may not show up at worldometer for a while.
The west coast tend to report late as well because of the time difference.
Some other states also have late reports.
We will not have final US numbers until 9PM at the earliest.
“but again if a dumb admiral is risking the health and safety of a crew”
It depends entirely on the situation.
If tied along the pier in San Diego and not due to rotate on deployment for another year, it’s one thing.
But when you are the point of the spear deployed in WestPac, it’s an entirely different matter.
What if that ship had to get underway on 24hrs notice to prevent a Chinese seizure of a flagged Japanese island? Would not the Admiral be correct in risking the crew?
Were those projection numbers with, or without, mitigation?
Coronavirus: Sweden Is Going For Herd Immunity. Will It Work?

One thing that may save them is a cure, if HCQ, or other treatments prove to lower deaths. Barring that, the number of those dying from the Coronavirus in Sweden is/will double every three days (current rate). The question becomes, how high will the rate go once their hospitals become inundated with sick and dying patients - that's when the UK changed their mind about going for herd immunity.
Another issue, the number of dead is baked in, even after two weeks from the day the quarantine begins - so again, hopefully new treatments will lower the legality of the virus and save them from their own foolishness. Some, especially the elderly will no doubt self-quarantine.

Many could care less how many this virus would kill without significant public health actions. They only refer to the deaths WITH schools and businesses closed, public events cancelled, no one traveling, massive numbers of people working from home or unemployed, not to mention basic social distancing and cleanliness measures, and say “see, just the flu”! Your graph is some bizarre alien scribbling.
In the end, they will weigh the impact to the economy and their 401K against the 100,000 +/- people killed rather than the 1 million plus saved. Likely, none of their close friends or family will have died, never mind they will never know which ones were saved. They will feel cheated and bitter. This will never end for many of them.
Agreed—details matter...but we are seeing several navy ships out there with CV, and maybe more we don’t know about—totally preventable (at least imho)—and that suggests to me some very poor leadership at the very top of the Navy.
