Four Short Pieces of Advice for President Trump on the Virus

1. Show the chart (second chart at the link below) that shows how the RATE of CHANGE in number of deaths is dropping.

2. Offer more realistic hope. President Trump could say something like this: “We are going to have a huge party when this thing subsides. We’re going to dine out, travel, and enjoy life.”

3. Be encouraging. He could also say, “Keep building and growing, America. Keep hiring good people. Keep making great products. Show our leadership. Have faith that moves mountains.”

4. Report new cases (and deaths) of the flu alongside new cases (and deaths) of the coronavirus. This will help put coronavirus in perspective.

Maybe once they help a million cases they will stop calling it anecdotal.

I think NY has not conducted the trial yet.

I’m sure glad I’m not there in NYC.

I hope way down here in semi-backwater Florida, if we get it, by then they’ll have the meds all ready to go.

No, we have a contingent here on Free Republic who will insist that the effects of hydroxychloroquine on Wu Flu are anecdotal until the day they die.

Piles of bodies in the streets are just around the corner.

Blah blah blah.

Ah, it’s not so bad.

We have 8 million people here.

Even if 20,000 end up dying, that’s a quarter of one percent of the population.

Sad and brutal but not exactly the black plague.

The stores are full of food and the gas stations are fine.

That new drug is being used more and more.

Or maybe it’s just that living on Staten Island, things never seem to be as bad as things are in most of the other boroughs

NYS and specifically the NYC area, is so far out in front of any other state, it’s ridiculous.

AllahPundit and some here think it’s snake oil and hokum. But bay area biotech hipsters on YouTube propomoting their bitotech firm and their mircale cure are legit. Who is AllahPundit anyways?...and or the folks behind it\him. I could find out fairly easy through my Private VPN and TOR browser...but don’t want to have to do that.

I thought I read that your governor had a shipment of hydroxy coming in from Israel, just for Florida. I believes it is manufactured in Israel and Australia, and thankfully not in China. I’m not sure if it’s manufactured in Canada, but I understand that the billionaires who were murdered up here were the owners of a generic drug company who manufactured hyrdroxychloroquine. Not sure what the connection might be.....they were also connected somehow to the Clinton Foundation, so there’s that.

5. Report recoveries!
Bring Out Your Dead

Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.

The false positive rate was 100%.

At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

*sigh* Such is life, and death...

If a quarantine saves just one child's or one old fart’s life, it's worth it.

I sometimes wish that medicine used the latin term for anecdote. This is a case of the language meaning significantly different things in technical versus common English.

Both sides are right, and both are wrong.

It all comes down to an overloaded term.

It depends on which old fart you're talking about.

It was developed in the late forties and used by the military initially. It has been on the civilian market continuously since 1955 and is long out of patent.

There are manufacturers all over the world.

To that contingent, if you were suffering from severe Coronavirus symptoms, would you refuse the HCQ, Z-pack and Zinc treatment because you are unimpressed with “anecdotal evidence”?

FReegards MrEdd and others!

I think that maybe there is a misunderstanding of how the term is being used. But I will absolutely agree the evidence is anecdotal until the double blind trial is done. You are not expected to use that word when referring to this recipe once you hear that the trial succeeds. Usually it is only a few days anyway between the submission of the paper and the peer review and acceptance (of the paper).

There are two ways to get doctors to accept using a drug regimen. Lab evidence and anecdotal. Even after it is accepted they will still share stories with each other and complaints about side effects and unexpected effects.

If you guys show me that the term “anecdotal evidence” is being understood by doctors and clinicians to mean, made up, not true, I will stand corrected.

Also realize that CQ failed in ferrets and guinea pigs with influenza and HIV(?) after it had worked in the dish. The Chinese doctors tried HCQ with nothing to go on but hope. And they saw the effect. Put it straight into patients, and people got better. It don’t happen that way in the US!

Dr. Zelenko has it right, pretty close enough, and the anecdotes are being published and people are staking their reputations on the stories they tell.

I wish it worked perfectly.
I wish everybody had enough of it.
I wish every doctor believed in it.
I wish we knew everything about it.

....(sigh)

Quantity has a quality all of it's own.

Thousands of individual applications of hydroxychloroquine worldwide with overwhelming positive results coupled with no poor results.

Question the motives of those who insist on months or years of pointless experiments with a decades old safe drug during a time of war.

Follow the money!
