Has anyone else seen NO new earthquakes being reported by the USGS on their Latest Earthquakes page?
Mine seems frozen in time with the last temblor reported about 01:45 UTC on April 1 or a bit over ten hours ago
My other app shows about 25 new quakes Mag 2.5 or greater in that time...The largest being a Mag. 4.4 level one
possibly a little late, but this is a psuedo-vanity post
April Fools?
Is there a way to clear the cache or reset the app?
I am showing 11 quakes so far on 4/1/20 on the USGS site:
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/map/
I am using a desktop, and at an activity rate of <300/ day, we shouldn’t be stressing their reporting capability at all.
IMHO, having seen nearly that many quakes per hour being reported during Kilauea’s activity a couple of years ago
But see the time column on the left side? It has no updates since before 9 am Eastern time on April 1
OK, I see now “Last Updated 2020-04-01 02:25:04 (UTC)”....COVID-19 evacuation of USGS office?
workie well fer me
Maybe, but I’d be surprised if there isn’t a certain degree of automation behind the page. In the meantime, “current” info can be found on sites such as this:
https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquakes/volcanoes.html
Yeah, probably highly automated...IT people at home instead of the server room? Drive time to server room? Looks like a server/database problem...error on the “last hour” spreadsheet format (”last day” OK):
https://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/feed/v1.0/csv.php
The page I cited in my latest post is for quakes ‘near volcanoes’. It seems that Cascade, Idaho doesn’t make their cut.
I heard that they had a shake up in their staff
Did the “last one out” post the waveform on-;ine or just turn out the lights?
I understand that one of the workers was finding fault with his manager.
Whatever it was is fixed now.
I remember hearing that the USGS updates their site using a telegraph key. In this day and age, it is mostly old geezers who know Morse code. Maybe he croaked.
Yes, they are ALL at Home. Under Quarantine.
