Meanwhile, I love Rush on politics, but he was demonstrating his ignorance when it comes to math (acceleration vs. velocity), again today. Aggghhh...

“26,753 ventilators at peak “

Didn’t the Feds say we have 16,000 in reserve, and 50K coming from GM? on top of whatever number there is now? And there’s the silicon valley volunteers who are rebuilding broken ventilators, several ten thousand?

“. Based on the most recent publicly available data (from 2010), 1 study estimated that US acute care hospitals own approximately 62,000 full-featured mechanical ventilators.1 Calculations suggest that about 28,883 of these ventilators (46.4%) can be used to ventilate pediatric and neonatal patients. The study also reported an additional 98,000 ventilators that are not full-featured but can still provide basic function in an emergency during crisis standards of care.1 “

GERMANY

Number of deaths exceeds 700

And again the number of reported corona cases has risen: currently to more than 67,000. The number of deaths has now exceeded 700 (as of March 31, 8pm).

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) also observed that the number of cases continues to increase. The pandemic will continue for months, predicts RKI boss Lothar Wieler (59).

Containment, protection of particularly vulnerable people and increased capacities remain important. A study found that only 41 percent of Germans thought Covid-19 was dangerous. This worries him that the disease cannot be taken seriously enough.

It wasn’t but a week ago he was still raging that the wall-to-wall coverage of the virus was but a plot to get Trump...over a case of the sniffles.

The greatest political analyst of the last 50 years is going out in a sad fashion.

Hannity too, is over.

Prayers for your niece!!! I was telling my wife last night: Many of us are going to know someone ill with this, soon. Hopefully, most will recover with no lasting damage.

Found out one of my 80+yr old kin has this.

Her son’s a doctor at Vandy so we’re not worried about her getting HCQ if she’s a candidate for that.

Thank you Paul! And yes, many of us are going to know someone who has/had it. My hope is for treatments which make it much less lethal. We should know something on that within days now.

The only economy that seems shut down in Calif is retail. The lower classes that work in fast food, grocery, landscaping, construction trades, truckers, machine shops, farmers, ranchers, distribution centers, roofers, hardware stores, etc. aren’t shut down. The upper middle class who can work from home, aren’t shut down. The county and state workers sure aren’t shut down - well, some are online, but all are collecting full salary and bene’s. It’s just the lower middle class that’s shut down. Receptionists and secretaries and little shops and restaurants, and retail chain-store employees. And dentists and doctors that serve them. (the rich still have their concierge dentists and doctors)

Crazy to stay at home, just crazy!:

Austin Public Health reported that 28 young adults returning from a spring break trip to Mexico have tested positive for the coronavirus.

They departed for the trip a week and a half ago despite
@CDCgov
’s recommendation to avoid non-essential travel.
