This was one of the most played songs on 1970s-era rock radio. Right up there with “Freebird”, “Stairway” and “Layla”

“The morning sun when it’s in your face
Really shows your age...”
What a smooth-talker he was

Can they even play “Every Picture Tells a Story” anymore on the radio?

Here is a YouTube video of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra doing Maggie May. Rod Stewart kind of looks like Mick, from Rocky.

NEWLYWED:”Wake up, Maggie, I think I’ve got somethin’ to say to you.”
VETERAN SPOUSE: “Sleep on, Maggie, what I wanted to say can wait.”

This was one of the most played songs on 1970s-era rock radio. Right up there with Freebird, Stairway and LaylaIf you're talking the quintessential songs of the 1970s, you need to add "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress" to the list.

Every Picture Tells a Story - great album with a GREAT title track.
I saw him on his “Acoustic/Unplugged” tour sans Ronnie Wood - absolutely amazing!

You’ve gotta add “Horse with No Name”; might also throw in the Bullfrog that had a name.

Funny thing about British males - as they age, they start to look more like old women than old men.

That opening gravel-voiced bark of Rod's on the song - "Wake up Maggie I think I got something to say to you". Always sounded impressive to the pre-teen me. Real disappointment when I finally saw what Rod Stewart looked like, dressed in bona fide '70s era skin tight pants and a head of hair worthy of Farrah Fawcett.

I have tickets to see him this summer, wonder if they’ll have the concert.

Not a bad add to the list and I’ll throw in “Night Moves” by Bob Seger. A little later into the 70s for that one - 1976, I believe - but FM radio played the hell out of that one too.

Nice counterpart to the memorable all-time classic website: “Lesbians Who Look Like Justin Bieber.”
