How the AMOUNT of the coronavirus you get infected with could decide whether you suffer mild or severe symptoms

A study on COVID-19 patients in China links high viral load to worse symptoms

Viral load is the amount of a virus inside someone's body during infection

As well as reducing the risk of coronavirus spreading social distancing could make people's symptoms milder if they do get the illness, scientists say.

It can do this by reducing a patient's viral load - the number of particles of the virus they are first infected with.

Having a high viral load gives an infection a 'jump start' and raises the risk of a patient's immune system becoming overloaded in its battle against COVID-19.

People can slash their chances of a massive initial infection by staying away from others who might be ill and by sticking strictly to rules against close personal contact which millions of people around the world are faced with.

Someone infected indirectly by touching a door handle could ultimately end up with milder symptoms than someone who inhales an infected person's cough, experts say.

And this is because it gives the immune system more time to get a handle on the infection before it gets overwhelmed and symptoms start to show.

'In general with respiratory viruses, the outcome of infection – whether you get severely ill or only get a mild cold – can sometimes be determined by how much virus actually got into your body and started the infection off,' says Professor Wendy Barclay, an infectious diseases expert. .

'It’s all about the size of the armies on each side of the battle, a very large virus army is difficult for our immune system's army to fight off.'

The way viruses make people ill is by multiplying rapidly once inside the body and building up in such large numbers that the body takes weeks to destroy them all.

“This type of thinking is why SARS-2 spread so quickly in the West but not Korea or Japan. “

No. In Korea and Japan they quickly got the jump on testing and isolating the positives.

It makes sense, too, that wearing masks, even masks that are only 60% efficient, could be effective. First, if one gets sick, it’s mild. Second, immunity is achieved. #masks4all

Apparently (can’t find the reference) a layer of cotton/polymer blend is 60% efficient vs viruses.

The NYC subways were still running and still packed as of last week. What a virus incubator! You are elderly, you take the subways and it might as well be a death train for you. And if not death, then lungs that are scarred with fibrous tissue for the rest of your life. Leaving you with 30-50% lower lung capacity.

The CDC is more concerned with Climate Change than Pandemics.

https://www.cdc.gov/climateandhealth/default.htm

Trump needs to dump the CDC when this is over. They failed in their mission.

this is why, if true, masks are important- when a person walks through a ‘cloud of virus’ from someone who coughed into the air before you walked through that same area, and has no mask on, they are getting a large amount of the virus on their face, in their noses, eyes, lungs-

but a person with a mask and glasses and gloves, walking through same cloud, will get only a small amount possibly in eyes, and on clothes, where it won’t be easily transported inside the person- most of the cells will be blocked by the mask- as long as the person doesn’t touch face, they should be ok and only get it mildly IF this new article is true-

The CDC wastes so much time and resources “studying” so-called “gun violence.”

It almost makes sense for every healthy person to go out and get a very small does of this disease, and then (hopefully?) only get the mild form , then isolate for a good while and be forever protected and not able to spread to others.

____The CDC wastes so much time and resources “studying” so-called “gun violence.”____

The CDC gets circa 7 billion a year in taxpayer money. Then crunch time came around with the corona virus and their response was 500% screwed up. What use are they in the real world?

When we get back to commerce, I suggest we no longer buy ANYTHING made in China.

From cheap plastic $hit that breaks to poison pet food to giving us a worldwide pandemic, I say “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

FU CHINA. Fu Manchu.

Matches what we’ve been saying. If you get a light load, your body has time to ‘prep’ for the upcoming war against the virus. In the case of the human body that might mean cells storing extra food, being ready for a reduction of Oxygen, emptying out the trash (since refuse collection will slow down), etc. All of this would be signaled by hormones or something like it.

But take in a big viral load - and the body has to do whatever it can to fight the bug, but the cells aren’t as prepped, and that’s why we see a lot of doctors dying - they’re in the worst possible environment.

“CHINA? Not worth the toilet paper its printed on.”

Actually, many of their published studies have been dead-on. (such as stating that aerosol transmission is happening). It’s only when it gets to the political level (including their puppets at WHO) that we get the flat-out lies.

...but then CDC is no different in that area.

“They know from SARS-1 in 2000 that people are contagious days or weeks before showing symptoms.”

No. From the CDC:

Available information suggests that persons with SARS are most likely to be contagious only when they have symptoms, such as fever or cough. Patients are most contagious during the second week of illness.

“This is why EVERYONE wears a face mask in those countries, from door to door. “

It’s obvious you have never been there.

In many Asian countries many people do wear face masks (***) but it is not EVERYONE, ever.

(***) They wear masks first and foremost when THEY are ill with a flu-like illness, coughing or sneezing and don’t want to infect others. They wear them during the flu season to protect themselves when they will be in crowded public places, like public transportation and street crowds. They do no always wear them all the time in every situation outside the home. Context - close contact - is the key.
