Nearly 100 more Big Apple residents died from the coronavirus since Sunday morning, raising the citys death toll to 776, according to city data.
From 9:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., the city tallied 98 more deaths and 1,166 more coronavirus cases, meaning 33,474 people in the city have now been infected with the illness.
Queens, in that time-frame, remained the hardest-hit borough with 10,737 cases.
Brooklyn has the second most cases at 8,887, followed by the Bronx at 6,250, Manhattan at 5,582 and Staten Island with 1,984.
Mayor de Blasio earlier Sunday warned the city will be in the throes of the virus for quite some time to come.
We will go through a really tough, tough journey, the mayor said at a press briefing.
April will be worse than March, and I fear that May could even be worse than April, he said. Were going to be in for weeks of this.
Gov. Cuomo on Sunday extended mandatory business closures until at least April 15 to cope with the pandemic.
Several hours later, President Trump extended the federal social distancing guidelines to April 30.

I know its not a cold.
But many would have died to the next opportunistic infection, cold or what have you - sepsis, organ failure, UTI. Since this virus is around they died of that, but not exactly really.
Here is a man, obese, smoked for thirty years, two heart attacks, gets covid and doesnt rally back, dies. Did he die of covid or obesity or smoking or heart failure? Yes.
That doesnt mean I am ok that we die. Just to say that we are not having an unusual amount of deaths overall and plunging ourselves into serious poverty is 1. Not helping and 2. Will make all our life supporting activities like health care worse.
Thank you so an average of 148 people per day die in New York City, from all causes.
BNO has recoveries.
I am not trying to minimize. I am trying to have an accurate perspective.
Probably not counting gun deaths, yet.
There would not have been a doubling (and rising) of daily deaths in NYC without this virus.
I am not sure there had been a doubling of average daily deaths in NYC but maybe you have data.
Pre covid 148 average per day died in NYC apparently.
Are 300 or so people dying in NYC (of all causes) now?
“This is not news. We know this would happen because NY doesnt / didnt apply the HCQ-Az pak at the onset of the first symptom. They wrote a memo that the drugs could only be used after 10 days in hospital. Of course by then they are pre-cytokine.”
New York will not allow patients with symptoms to come to the hospital for treatment until they have breathing problems. They are way behind the game at that point when that is when they initiate hydroxychlorine and azithromycin (Zpack). I hope the hospitals and Governor or whoever makes these policies get sued for withholding treatment that was available.
253 coronavirus deaths in NYC yesterday.
Thank you. That, to me, is significant.
And to NYers as well! The next four weeks will be really tough in some areas.
But I am hopeful for chloroquine, other therapeutics, and the summer all coming soon.
BNO has recoveries.

Yep. Not eveyplace is "clear" or "hot" at the same time, which is a mixed blessing because we're all cooped up while the wave is elsewhere.
Hitting Democrat voters hard.
