Thatvis the useful comment, although for americans, masks are probably make us act stupider.
But masks are to kepp the infected from sreading.
LOL, I don’t drin at all.
But thought it was funny my team is ready to attribute any productivity gains to it.
Even duct tape can’t fix stupid.
But it can silence it.
And it might protect against getting infected.
He sort of looks like a coronavirus!
That’s one of the reasons I thought of that.
I confess, I’ve been watching a lot of SpongeBob during this, it helps.
I see in your last link that vacuum bags are mentioned. I have a buddy who owns a vacuum repair/sales business. He is making masks (an enlisting help) as fast as he can (and donating them to hospitals, nursing homes, etc). It’s pretty neat that he can contribute in this way.
I like Spongebob some, but that voice grates on me.
The most important thing to do, when out and about, is to wear gloves. As long as your wearing gloves, youll be fine.
For the most part.
*******************************************
As long as you dont touch your face while still wearing the gloves. If you do that you might as well not even wear gloves youve defeating the entire purpose of wearing them.
True, what BlueStateRightist said. But if you learn enough about how to best use gloves, they can be helpful in specific places at specific times. There’s no use for them most of the time for most people.
I do wish many shoppers were trained (most important), stocked up *in advance* and using gloves to avoid contaminating products and other surfaces in stores but only during times like this one. All kinds of Americans (especially people in medical and decontamination work) should have training (most important), supplies of gloves, masks and other protection (nonporous clothing, creams, sprays, cleaners, etc.) for times like these.
Those who stocked up in the past weren’t the problem, although those hoarding supplies after the virus arrived were selfish and lacking in logic. The problem is the lack of production on U.S. and lack of stored and rotated supplies.
It’s not difficult to learn at all, but there are quite a few steps and details to know about properly using gloves. Same with masks. Training is needed (many practice drills)—not only reading. I have no medical experience but was trained and equipped for nuclear, biological and chemical threats (as a soldier, not an NBC specialist).
You should have noted that a football fied is 100vyatds, not 100 feet..
Still, 30 m/s is 1 tenth the speed of sound.
And a lightweight particle isnt going to go far at any speed other than the speed of the surrounding air.
Interesting. I was watching an episode of "Mythbusters" on Discovery Channel yesterday from about 2012, and they were doing "Flu Myths". One of them was to measure the speed and distance of a sneeze. They got to about 30 meters/second, and about 5 meters in distance.
And these guys didn't need to scam the government for who knows how much to run the experiments.
Yes. If you have a fast arm, you might be able to throw an object at nearly 100 mph. But try throwing a flat, unfolded, small piece of paper as fast as you can. See how far that travels. ;)
Thanks. Ill be wearing a mask when I do finally go out.
See post 34. That’s MIT and Mythbusters.

“Yes, Chriss reporting and analysis is excellent. However, he has a bias, IMO, toward over-representing the future severity of the crisis, reflecting the same inclination as his Peak Prosperity economics blog since 2008. That was evident today in his estimate of undetected cases at six times confirmed, which lead him to estimate that we are only at 900,000 U.S. cases, while we need 35 million to achieve herd immunity. That is a big assumption on his part. The U.S. may already have had a minimum of ten million cases to date. The logarithmic total cases chart for Italy has already flattened, with Spain almost there. Deaths lag cases by around two weeks. This may indicate that the U.S. could have the 100,000 to 200,000 deaths estimated by Fauci today, rather than the estimate of one or two million of a week or so ago.”
I’m looking for the link to the data, that shows the curves for Italy & Spain flattening.
Clerks in grocery stores and pharmacies should be wearing masks...now.
When the country re-opens waiters and waitresses should also wear masks ....
AND customers should have their temps taken BEFORE being allowed in restaurants and grocery stores. This isn't going to go away on it's own. I'm not going to shop where I don't feel safe.
Places of business must protect their customers or soon they won't have any customers.
And the mail? Run in under UV... Same with cash from banks. UV it all.
