Yes, ego and dismissing tests are connected together like two plus two equals four.
I have heard Trump talk extensively and have never heard him dismiss testing. I have heard him quote the experts who say increased testing will increase the denominator which will decrease the death rate.
He doesn’t even understand the difference between the tests and the down side of poorly done testing programs
This is outrageous:

That’s totally false premise and narrative alone.
What I’ve observed is that Trump was not impressed that CDC was not ready nor able to do massive testing, couldn’t get going, Obama and Biden had left depleted supplies of masks etc. used during process, the WHO first provided “tests” that yielded false positives, etc.
So now, weeks later, we have massive scale, drive through convenience, 5/15 minute turnaround, which Trump has praised.

As the FDA continues to stand in the way of cheap, ubiquitous and quick testing technology, Trump [why is he that only guy who can do anything?] needs to go over there and kick butt up and down the halls.
Jeb is not a dolt but his wounded pride makes him play one against Trump. The available COVID-19 tests are beset by inaccuracy, expense, limited availability, and delay. Better tests are in the pipeline but not yet proven. In the meanwhile, it is good sense, not ego, to be dismissive of testing. In current medical practice, most COVID-19 patients are identified and treated based on symptoms, with testing playing a secondary role as confirmation for a diagnosis already arrived at.
