I wrote the material below for a comment on an FR post regarding possible suppression of commonly available healing substances. It refers to a long comment there about a Dr. Vladimir Zelenko’s recommendations for using Hydroxychloroquine, Azithromycin, and Zinc Sulfate. I offered my thoughts and experience using readily available supplements.

No, a potential cure might not be discussed by either Democrats or Republicans. For example, the fact that NY is now trying Vitamin C to treat Covid-19 sufferers was not mentioned, and you can be sure none of the doctors like Fauci and others have mentioned it in public even though China has three clinical trials at work, which unfortunately will not be reported until Sept. Below explains why I no longer belong to either party.

While Democrats might wish to deprive Trump of any credit for helping this scourge, both parties are subject to the political donations and pressures of Big Pharma. These established treatments for other illnesses are off patent, and therefore no longer BIG money makers for the drug companies. On the other hand from their perspective Vitamin C is even worse. I checked lower cost chloroquine at GoodRX. It was $75.00 for 30 500mg tablets. The same quantity of Vitamin C tablets costing from 5 to 10 cents each would be $1.50 to $3.00. Wow!! No fortunes to be made there, for sure. And C is well known as completely safe.

New York is now reported to be using Vitamin C for treatment. https://nypost.com/2020/03/24/new-york-hospitals-treating-coronavirus-patients-with-vitamin-c/

This is good news, but they are still using doses far less then those by Cathcart in his high C treatment of 9,000 patients over 10 years. He recommends pushing C to bowel tolerance. The link is long, and very informative regarding how to treat a number of conditions. http://www.doctoryourself.com/titration.html

A Chinese doctor has transmitted his good news about Vitamin C treatment, but points out at the video that NY is not using strong enough doses.
https://greenbeltoutdoors.com/blogs/survival-blog/vitamin-c-in-high-doses-is-safe-in-treatment-of-coronavirus-covid-19-dr-richard-cheng

Should you have any medical or military deciders, or even President Trump’s office you want to contact with the above, here is the official NIH description of at least one of the Chinese studies.
https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT04264533

When my son in Special Forces said the World Health Organization (WHO) was asking Google and facebook to suppress some videos on China and Vitamin C, I was surprised. I am no longer a skeptic. So, I hope the skeptics here will be willing to consider my own recommendations based on over 45 years helping myself, my family, and others, some in deadly peril. To parallel Dr. Zelenko’s advice. In addition to what he suggests if you can find it and trust it,

1. Any person of any age not yet sick and living where infection is possible:
1 gram (1,000 milligrams) of Vit. C morning and evening.
2000 to 4000 IU of Vitamin D per day
1 good multi-vitamin/multi-mineral morning, and evening if under stress or chronically tired, continue when sick
1 or 2 calcium/magnesium/zinc tablets a day, continue when sick
Other supplements you have researched and find sensible for your physical age and condition

2. Any person in the high-risk category even with minor symptoms
2 grams C in the morning, 1 or 2 gms. every 5 hours, 2 gms at bedtime
Continue use of other supplements, drink plenty of water

3. Any person with serious symptoms if they are not hospitalized
Continue with step 2 recommendations
Crush 10 grams of C or equivalent of powdered C and add to 12 to 20 ounce bottle of water
Have patient sip the water as they wish to level of “bowel tolerance”, see Cathcart’s link above
Allow new C water bottles as often as every 6 or 8 hours
A tablespoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder or juice can be added to water bottle

4. For serious case try to find doctor/hospital that will use IV high dose Vitamin C if you want it. If not, sneak in the water bottles if not intubated.

In my experience, using number 2. Vitamin C doses would reduce a fever by 2 degrees: 104f to 102, 103 to 101. Using honey makes it easier to take the acidity of the C, the garlic I found especially good for the dry choke phase of a cough. Do not use unpasteurized honey for a child under 1 year. When very young and sick, I would fill a baby bottle with water, add 500mg of crushed C, a tablespoon of honey, and 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder, mixed well. They would wake crying or coughing, grab the bottle, suck on it and fall back asleep. This also helped open their drainage when they had ear infections. Good luck and please send this information to anyone who can use it or encourage authorities to look into it.

Take-out customers at a McDonalds near here have to enter the store walking slowly backward (so coughs and sneezes are directed outwards), through the blocked-open double doors. Two staff members with masks in back of the doors monitor them for coughing or sneezing (and were watching prior to their entry). If the customers do either they are politely asked to exit just as they entered, without turning around, and are directed to a sign with a free home delivery offer.

What you recommend is pretty close to what I'm taking daily now. I've up'd the amount of vitamin C (usually I only take 500mg) until we get well through the peak.

1,000mg C
5,000iu D3+K2 (up it to 10,000 if I feel sick)
40mg Zinc picolinate (zinc sulfate works too)
Magnesium, Potassium, Iodine
CoQ10
NAC
Vit. B Complex
L-Serine

So yes, I think your recommendations are based on good research and sound advice, based on what I've also read and studied up on. And in our case, we have an honest to goodness MD in our immediate family who we check with before getting too crazy. :)

I came across the following as I continue to research the best way to disinfect my limited supply of N95 masks.

https://www.sages.org/n-95-re-use-instructions/

Above link is for a simple explanation and ideas. The link below is more detailed.

The above link (interview with the inventor of the N95 mask) says the best way is to rotate masks every 3 to 4 days leaving them to air dry. Even with one or two masks that might be doable with our stay-at-home restrictions. Before I read this I was thinking 24 hours would be good (similar to cardboard) but didn't realize the inside filter was more like a plastic (poly synthetic).

He says the 2nd best option is to heat them to 150 degrees for 30 minutes in your oven. Suspend them using a wooden clothes pin so none of the mask is touching metal. I was putting my mail in the toaster oven at 170 for 15 minutes based on other studies of MERS as per PA Engineer's research. I don't know - maybe I'll go at 160 for 30 minutes just to be safe. Even on the second paper below, talking with the same guy, they say 160 for 30 min instead of 150.

In the following article and I've read elsewhere:

https://utrf.tennessee.edu/information-faqs-performance-protection-sterilization-of-masks-against-covid-19/

The use of UV light will degrade the synthetic poly material that makes up the inner filter. But they aren't sure how long it would take to degrade it. I have been putting my masks under a UVC light - I guess I will stop doing that and hope that I haven't degraded them yet.

I had one mask that I left in the trunk of my car along with my groceries and other stuff. I run the Ozone generator (100 cubic/ft-m, 7700 mg/hr) for 45 minutes which is probably overkill. It destroyed the elastic on one of my masks. This longer paper also talks about steam and boiling - but I wonder if the boiling is for regular surgical masks???

Ping to post 565 for recent interview and paper with inventor of N95 masks on best ways to disinfect them. (Two of my ways perhaps weren’t the best.)

Oh - for the degraded or used-up elastic bands - I bought a big bag of rubber bands at Staples.

I'm using the sterilizer now that I posted from Amazon.

Soiiw CH-360T Heat Sterilizer 300W 1.5L w/Timer Disinfection Box Manicure Pedicure SPA Salon Equipment for Sundry Beauty Hair Nail Metal Tools with Handle

Simple and works well. I upped the time and slightly the temp based on the second paper. Abundance of caution.

Wife has to change out regularly on her one week on (one week off - telemedicine) at the hospital. They still don't have adequate supplies. They are however suppose to provide surgical for the patients during the visits this week. We'll see.

I believe the masks will become too hard to breath with before the elastic is damaged. The sterilizer I included has both UVC and heat. So far no problem.

We are keeping it in the garage and isolated from the house. I was uncomfortable using the oven just because of potential cross contamination.

I suspect the next advice will be for everyone to wear masks when out as soon as they are available.

YMMV. Best. Thanks for the ping.

Not sure if you saw the articles on hydroxyquloroquine and zinc use as 100 % positive results. My theory through lots of reading is this....the patients are zinc deficienct. Zinc inhibits virus multiplication in cells. Hydroxyquloroquine helps the zinc get in the cells. Please look into this and spread the word. We can all take zinc now. Protein helps zinc absorb. There are many clues this is the problem. High blood pressure meds lower zinc. Zinc deficiency causes loss of taste and smell which has been a symptom. Zinc has to work before mucus is filled in the lungs, so now is the time to take it. Also, when one is first diagnosed. Trump got enough donations of hydroquinone. He is amazing.

I agree on the wanting everyone to wear a mask in the near future. I had some spares and just mailed some to extended family. Not sure why I waited - but finally did thinking if they made it mandatory to wear a mask outside, then they would have one at least.

Sounds like you and your wife are hanging in there - continued blessings to you.

All the counties that make up SF did a early lock down a couple of weeks ago. I think the lock downs is helping.

Other parts of California follow up with the same actions a week later.

Overall California is doing great compare to New York..

“When the big cities collapse, all hell will break lose.”

That’s Thud’s assertion. I’m hoping it doesn’t get that far.

But if it does, it will be the large east coast cities and upper Midwest cities first.

But we did have a million young men under arms in very close quarters.

But the SF came on so fast, most of them did not have the ability to go very far before they were locked down.

Can’t speak to Ireland other than they took some strong measures early - canceled St. Patrick’s Day parades, which some FReepers said heralded the Apocalypse. Germany attributes death to underlying health issues before CCP-19, has all along. Their low death rate is because they undercount.
