TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: todayscryptogram
You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications.

The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram).

Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is your first time, don't be intimidated.

PLEASE DO NOT post the answer in general comments, but DO post your time and any tips you might give the group on how you solve these puzzles as puzzle solvers love to hear how you made out.

You can certainly send your solution to my private reply, or if you need a hint for today’s cryptogram. If you're just starting out on these, be patient, as you'll be proficient in no time.

If you need a little help you can copy the cryptogram and paste it to Hal’s Helper below:

You can then work on the puzzle without using pen and paper.

Yup. Lazy Sunday morning. Used Excel for formatting.

Hmmm..

I ‘mistakenly’ saw the first ‘clue’ so I bypassed word #1, was correct on word # 2 and never looked at word one till I finished the author. (lets just say the sand in my timer was still trickling and wondering where it was going to go by the time I finished-—probably won’t even flip it over tomorrow<: <: <:)

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose and sometimes you get rained out.

(I never read the comments or the ‘clues’ until I am finished. Tends to throw me off BUT as I am transferring from hard copy to Hal I am trying to find a ‘starting point’)

HEY, whatever floats your boat!!!

Yes, get the first word and go. But I had a brain freeze this morning. It took me a 1/2 min. to recognize 1st word.

2nd word, 4th word, 1st word, 3rd word, off to the races. About 1 min.

I broke it yesterday, you missed it. I was about 90% thru yesterday and got lazy. I saw the first four words of this one straight off, and another four (PDM, AHFHQ, RM, & RDHVQ) but found it too easy to plug it into my Excel formatter. I had a hard week working from home last week. (Not meant sarcastically. I was busy.)

I should have recognized the 1st word immediately, but actually it was the 9th word for me. Still, off and running, like you said! And a very good quote it was, too.

You're being too kind :)

My 'hints' are not so much hints as tangential (and hopefully humorous) references to some part of the quote. More like an 'oh yeah, I can see that' moment afterward than a hint. LOL
