A baby owl is sitting on my car. A juvenile horned owl I believe. Were all sitting here wondering if to leave it alone or not. I live on a busy street on the North Shore in MA. What do you think?
Owl leave on that one Peeew!
on a blog somewhere?? :)
Update on Owl Watch. It flew across the street into neighbors yard. Didnt get very high, lucky it didnt get hit. Neighbor says theres a nest nearby I think its all going to work out
“Leave it alone the Folks are around somewhere, probaly waiting for you to back off.”
That was the recommendation from an animal shelter near me when I found a couple baby birds thrashing around. Leave them alone, their mom is nearby and she’ll know what to do.
Later on that day they were gone. Can’t really say what happened to them, good or bad.
Its baby bird training season
Leave it alone, it will soon fly off.......
Groan! Eye roll.
Not bad, Alberta!
I’d go buy a new car ASAP. If you interfere with that owlet, you could spend YEARS in prison.
Who would know what to do..who?..who i ask you?
They taste just like chicken.
Hawk might be cautious since angry momma owl talons can do a lot of damage...
I had a cat that got crippled up after an owl grabbed her by the butt and tried to haul her off.
Great Horned owls are the earliest nesters, they start nesting while snow is on the ground. When you eat rats, skunks and squirrels instead of caterpillars you don’t have to wait until spring.
Maybe it’s the other way around... who wants to admit they were beat up by a fluffy bird?
Leave it alone. In many states it’s illegal no matter how well intentioned you are and if you call and tell them you’ve gone something, you’ve just confessed.
Good point!
Getting beat up by a fluffy bird is far more likely than an encounter with a Grey!
Great Horned Owls eat hawks for appetizers and not afraid to take on eagles...from what I’ve read.
I haven’t read all the reply’s to your question, but the only call you should make is to the State Department of Wildlife. Birds of Prey are Federally protected. Even dead ones. I wouldn’t touch it. Just possessing a feather could bring you trouble.
