4-year-old [Alabama] girl missing for 2 days found safe

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A 4-year-old girl who had been missing for two days was found safe with her dog Friday afternoon, Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones confirmed.

About 300 people volunteered to search for Vadie. She was found around 3:20 Friday afternoon east of Lee Road 65 in the general area where they had focused the search.

“No words are capable of describing everyone’s relief. We are just, ecstatic might be a good word. She is in good shape, she is responsive, she is talking, she’s alert. She is in good physical condition, and the best part is she is with her mama," Jones said.

This little girls dog looks like a red bone hound or maybe a cross with another breed. If the dog and her have bonded, there’s no way the dog loses the girl. The hound could track her through a hurricane. 6 feet was probably as far apart as they got. If your kid gets lost in the woods a good dog is as good as a squad of marines. Maybe meaner.

I had a black lab when I was a kid. She was my sidekick. I took her out to a surfing beach after work as I normally did. That day I got caught in an outgoing tide taking me past the line of breakers.

I was out 400 yards and no one could see me waving. I kept being taken further out. On shore I watched as my dog stopped chasing Frisbees and came to the water’s edge directly to my front. She stared at me. I was too weak to raise an arm to wave to her. All at once she bounded into the waves and swam out to me. I still remember seeing her climb into breaking waves, slapping her paws in the air to make it through, then shaking her head coming down the back side and bobbing it forward and back as she chugged along.

When she got out to me she made a U-turn and I grabbed her tail. I was too weak to hold my head out of the water. I just raised my head to take a breath then went back down as she towed me in. After a few minutes she pulled me in to a sandbar. I had to sit and rest for some time before I could stand up and walk in. She saved my life.

Dogs are great.

They put those on to keep them from licking/nibbling on stitches post op or to keep them from scratching around their face.

Really??????? You are kidding me!!!! I would have never guessed...

I though it was a type of receptor to listen to aliens... /S
