A video from a reporter in Montana has gone viral after the reporter spots a herd of bison coming toward him while setting up for his shot.

“Three, two, oh my god. I ain’t messing with you. Oh no. I’m not messing with you,” Deion Broxton says.

Deion Broxton KTVM ✔ @DeionNBCMT There was a herd of bison walking right toward me at @YellowstoneNPS today!

Embedded video 364K 1:25 PM - Mar 25, 2020

Broxton was doing a story at Yellowstone Park when he spotted the bison. He then packed up and got out of there. Then once he was at a safe distance away, Broxton took video of the bison.

This video has been seen more than 5 million times.

Yellowstone actually responded to his video commending his "social distancing" and called it “a perfect example of what to do when approached by wildlife.”

Years back, as a herd ghosted through Madison campground, a ranger explained to us that the bison have the Right of Way...

It was early in the morning, and foggy. They were absolutely silent. Just, huge looming shapes. The campers stayed in their cars, or crowded into the bathrooms and showers.

"Always wear steel toed shoes when petting one."

You go ahead and pet one. I'll video it for your next of kin to watch, at the memorial services...

Last visit, we were parked in the Blazer, watching a herd across the road, and I turned to my wife, and in her car window, a baseball sized eye, and the rest was dark brown wool. It stretched past the tail light... She was going to roll down the window, and I pointed out that it was bigger than we were, and I didn't know how it would react to being touched...

I live out here near them. Rode snow machines and drove near them. Those big shaggys, moose, and elk in Yellowstone aren’t anything to mess with. You’d be surprised to see some people and what they try near them. Yellowstone Park is not a petting zoo. The reporter was pretty smart. If you got a stringer of fresh caught trout and a bear shows up, walk away. I’ve watched big bull buffalo plow snow 4’ deep along the gibon river like a snow plow. Other grazers feed along in the furrows they plow. Fun to watch at a distance.

our neighbor had a pet bison- that gored him- had a huge gash in stomach- he survived for awhile, but infection set in and killed him-

Yes, they’re BIG. On a recent Yellowstone trip we encountered one walking down the middle of the highway. I was raised near Yellowstone and have seen many herds of buffalo there but never one that up close and personal! He was really pissed-off, eyes glaring, and appeared almost ready to take on our car. We were greatly relieved when he decided against it and wandered on down the road to upset someone else.

Horses can be tame. Bison, even farm raised, are not. They are all wild animals.

Yeah horses are tame. They’d never kick you through a barn wall, step on your foot, throw you through a barbwire fence or take a bite out of you like an alligator. They’re just little 1000 pound darlings.

Boy, howdy. A shod horse has a uniquely accurate ability to judge what kind of shoes or sneakers you are wearing. And then they lean into it... They will also quickly teach you about being in range of their rear hooves.

Bison haven't got the best eye sight in the animal world. I think past ten or twenty feet they don't see too good and tend to view everything that gets too close as a threat, which is why they have a tendency to charge at anything that gets near them .

Co-worker’s family raised buffalo. Definitely still wild. Her husband was a city kid who married into the family. Said he learned thru sad experience, “When their tail goes up and head goes down, look out.”

Correct! I was at the Yellowstone lodge a few years back, putting suitcases in the trunk. I heard a soft snort behind me and a buffalo was standing about ten feet behind me just watching me. How something THAT BIG could get so close to me startles me to this day.

There was one, just wasn’t much to it. It showed newsman looking to one side and talking, then he went out of shot, and the camera being stowed into the back of a car, then nothin’.
