Just hang on.

By this weekend, or the beginning of next week, we will see the results of the meds that are being given in NY/NYC.

If the results are what most think they will be, then that’ll end the hysterians little panic parade and they will have to go and manufacture another panic to grab to.

Remember almost all deaths will be attributed to Corona by doctors even Asymptomatic but with a positive Corona test. We will have that narrative to fight against. Daily death rates will be the same as they have been for years but fake Corona deaths will be sky high.

I think most people will eventually test positive for it, but be asymptomatic.

The ONLY true measure of the “impact” of this will be reviewing total deaths against previous years.

So, if 100 people died in your country every March for the last five years (adjusted for population) and 110 died this year...you should be able to make a case that the increase is “related” to something.

But, they still argue about the Spanish Flu’s death count. So...

Two weeks ago, Ohio’s “leadership” said that their best guess was 100,000 Ohioans had it. That it was growing at 35% per day and the death rate was minimally 1.4%.

Yesterday, the total deaths were 10 in the state. In my county, after a week and a half of drive thru tests, 48 cases are recorded - .00004% of the population.

And yet we are all supposed to be afraid of the HUGE onslaught that is just around the corner.

People on this site berate the doubters over and over.

I’m a proud charter flubro. I don’t find the term offensive; it’s just a technique to dismiss a rational counter argument by those who are scared senseless ... and I understand that ... I really do. I mean, “science denier” and “denier” were already taken by others scared nearly senseless by another “existential threat” to humanity (sound familiar?) so the anti-flubros couldn’t dismiss us with those terms. It’s all good (or I hope and pray it turns out that way ...)

Flubros are innumerate flu morons.
Finally we have proof of the deadliness of Covid19 from NYC.
NYC had 53,006 deaths from all causes in 2014

NYC had 2,220 deaths from Influenza and Pneumonia in 2014

https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Health/New-York-City-Leading-Causes-of-Death/jb7j-dtam

Another rough estimate for number of deaths in NYC every year,
from Quora - 1 death every 9 minutes, 158 per day, 57,000 per year

https://www.quora.com/How-many-people-die-in-New-York-every-day

So roughly 158 people die in NYC every day and 2220/100 = 22 die every day of influenza and pneumonia every day assuming a 100 day flu season.
For overall deaths there is very little seasonality. March is 108% of the average death rate for the year.
http://www.legacy.com/news/culture-and-trends/article/yes-its-true-more-people-die-in-january

90% of NYS deaths from Covid19 so far were in New York City

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/03/new-york-coronavirus-cases-updates.html

There were 95 Covid19 deaths in NYS 3-25 so about 81 in NYC - compared to 158 deaths from all causes on an average day and 22 deaths from flu on an average day during flu season.

https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/

So all the moron “flubros” out there can kiss my ass, the facts are already there, FOUR TIMES the number of normal flu deaths yesterday, and more than 50% more deaths than normal FROM ALL CAUSES in NYC. Wait until today’s number come out.

Born & raised Brooklynite, but long gone x 35 years for the bucolic setting of PA, where social distancing is a way of life, not a govt edict :P

Stupid comment.

Try being a non-Catholic and accidentally post on a caucus thread.

You know better than act all surprised.

Can you show me where in the FR rules it says that only certain people may post on certain threads?

A link to this rule will be fine.

Try as I might I could not have demonstrated my point any better than have you. Thank you for taking time to do so and congratulations on coming up with a way of making good use of your time during this period of voluntary (thus far) house arrest. (Oh, did I misspeak? ... I meant during this period of "shelter in place")

Sincere best wishes for your continued good health during this flu season. I truly mean that.

PS -- According to the "new rules for living" I am unable to accommodate your request to "kiss [your] ass", but there are "morons" out there who would likely take you up on your apparent urgent need bust only after this flu has run its course, so you'll just have to remain patient for a few more weeks.

Cheers!

One thing that all of the long list of hoaxes have in common is Fuzzy Math.

You simply keep repeating the lies using your math until people start believing. Once you get a few folks to believe, then that spreads. Eventually you have panic.

In an extreme form, the Toilet Paper of 2020 is a perfect example. Eventually even astute, intelligent, rational people are in a total panic about getting toilet paper.

For me, I find it incredibly discouraging to see the complete lack of hindsight and afterthought by fellow Freepers on this virus matter.

Before you run around screaming the world is going to end...ask yourself this... “Haven’t you heard this one before?”

I hear ya. I’m kind of wondering why you’re so focused on “social distancing” when it seems like you do that as a matter of course!

Two Stanford doctors: "The true fatality rate is the portion of those infected who die, not the deaths from identified positive cases.”

This elementary fact has been the topic of a lot of analysis and discussion @ FR. (Wastoute was actually the first one who began advocating it awhile ago.) But, no matter how often it's pointed out - and now being echoed by a range of medical professionals, including Dr Birx a few days ago - there's still a lot of confusion regarding various statistical projections.

So, we're left with this core analytical truth, but then we have endless repetition of false analyses, no matter how often they are pointed out. In many ways, the ongoing debate is like "inside baseball" or the game within the game.

It doesn't matter if you actually believe it's an extinction event or 'just the flu'. Rather, what's relevant is how much one can flog a certain position in order to drive media attention and perhaps manipulate political opinion. I mean, take me for example: I could just as easily drive a twitter account either way for fun or profit.

FR actually condones this behavior itself, since it would be easy enough to establish a policy that mandated using only valid statistical measures. That is, any thread or any poster who kept insisting on posting "cases" as some kind of important, meaningful factor would be warned, then bounced. Sure, maybe throw in pseudo-stats as a reference example of media manipulation, but otherwise, it's simply a designed effort to undermine the president.

Oh, I get that many here might not necessarily be sleeper cells and many are actually posting in good faith, but they might be unaware of how/why they are being manipulated into advancing an adversarial agenda. Look no further than all the questionable web sites running so-called stats - they should be universally banned. The only true number is the one being collected from actual data sources. Wiki has it's political issues, but in terms of straight-up, no debate data, they are an excellent source.

For the record, I'm neither camp - I just watch the dial.
