NBA Player Trey Burke Pushes Anti-Vaxxer Conspiracy Theory Amid Coronavirus Crisis
NEWSONE ^ | Mar 24, 2020 | Bruce C.T. Wright

Black folks have a complicated history with vaccinations in America.

NBA player Trey Burke has apparently revealed himself to be against vaccinations and made no secret about it on his Instagram stories Tuesday afternoon. While it was unclear what sparked the anti-vaxxer social media outburst, his comments came during a public health pandemic caused by the coronavirus, a highly contagious respiratory disease also known as COVID-19 that scientists around the world were working to find a vaccine.

Ismat Sarah Mangla ✔ @ismat OK, so the thing that has broken me is that Trey Burke is an anti-vaccer/conspiracy theorist. Please take me back to simpler times.

4 1:52 PM - Twitter Ads info and privacy See Ismat Sarah Mangla's other Tweets Burke, a point guard who last played with the Philadelphia 76ers before this season ended prematurely because of the coronavirus, took to his Instagram Stories to sound off on the topic of getting immunized. It was unclear what prompted him to share his opinion vaccinations, but what was clear is that they quickly turned conspiracy theories that experts have said are typically spread out of fear.

“[Expletive] a vaccination,” Burke’s Instagram Stories began. “Tryna kill us YOU [emoji eyes] you crazy you think otherwise!”

He continued by telling his followers to “Pick a side” before explaining that he would rather put his faith in his religion. “I choose the Most High through Christ could careless [sic] what the world think [shrugging emoji].”

Burke went on to suggest he didn’t care what anybody thought about his opinion on getting vaccinated, something he likened to radio-frequency identification (RFID) — tracking devices — that by definition uses “electronic tags placed on objects, people, or animals to relay identifying information to an electronic reader by means of radio waves.” Burke said “RFID in full effect and they ready to implement!”

He later suggested the hospital tried to prevent him from leaving with his baby without vaccinations.

Black folks have every reason to be suspicious of vaccinations in this country. Lest we forget the so-called Tuskegee experiment, a clinical study ordered by the U.S. Public Health Service to study the progression of the disease syphilis in poor, rural Black men that was masked to the subjects as free health care from the government. With the Public Health Service working in tandem with the Tuskegee Institute (nor University, an HBCU), Black sharecroppers were left suffering from the disease even though there was a known treatment in 1947 using penicillin. Nevermind the AIDS epidemic that has disproportionately affected Black people as well as the “involuntary government sanctioned sterilization programs, medical discrimination and highly suspicious “birth control” programs even into the 1990s” that NBC News reminded readers of.

The anti-vaxxer movement dates back centuries and is much more common among Black folks than other races and ethnicities, according to research conducted by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). When it comes to immunizations against influenza (the flu), measles-mumps-rubella, pneumonia, tetanus, shingles and HPV, “vaccination coverage was significantly lower among non-Hispanic blacks compared with non-Hispanic whites,” the study on racial and ethnic disparities among adults found. The study took certain factors into account, such as Black folks being less likely to be insured. However, a lack of insurance was probably not the case for Burke, whose base salary for the 2019-20 season was $2,028,594, according to Spotrac, an online sports information resource.

The World Health Organization — the same World Health Organization that’s heavily involved in working to control the coronavirus — classified “vaccine hesitancy” as one of the top 10 threats to global health last year and blamed people experiencing it on “complacency, inconvenience in accessing vaccines, and lack of confidence are key reasons underlying hesitancy.”

Along those same lines, Forbes explained earlier this year how having that type of attitude toward vaccinations was linked to the current coronavirus crisis, albeit for misguided reasons. While the coronavirus is indeed a public health crisis, “it has nothing to do with vaccines. Nonetheless, some anti-vaxxers have claimed that the new virus originated from a failed effort to create a coronavirus vaccine,” contributor Steven Salzberg wrote in February.

Still, numbers don’t lie, and there are plenty of Black folks who seem to agree with the sentiments expressed by Burke on Instagram. Rapper Royce Da 5’9″ has defended his anti-vaxx lyrics on the song “Tricked” off his new album, “The Allegory,” which was released late last month. On the song, Royce rhymed, “From day one at the hospital they target our children, say they gonna immunize ‘em they somehow get autism.” Those lyrics were in spite of the Journal of the American Medical Association definitively finding measles-mumps-rubella vaccinations are “not associated with an increased risk of autism spectrum disorders.”

Royce said he has “a child on the spectrum” and that all of his children have been vaccinated, but he also told Complex in an interview that he has found his own evidence of a link between vaccinations and autism. However, he said, “I’m not in any way trying to encourage people to not get their kids vaccinated. I encourage you to believe what you want to believe.”

The NBA has been struck by the coronavirus, with multiple players being infected by COVID-19. That fact combined with the free time players have now that the season has been cut short may have contributed to Burke’s anti-vaxx comments. Considering all of the above, it’s unclear how he’ll feel about the NIH beginning a clinical trial to find an effective vaccine against the coronavirus.

Vaccines for polio and MMR have saved 100s of millions of lives. The problem is that nobody believes a liar even when they are telling the truth.

If the federal government and agencies lie about secondhand smoke and global warming because they think it’s for the greater good, there is a downside. Trust is hard to regain. Actually impossible.

Great line. Is it original? The MSM comes to mind; that’s why many of us aren’t buying in to the WuFlu hysteria. It MIGHT be as apocalyptic as they say, but why should we believe them now?

As part of the stimulus bill in Congress, someone PLEASE add a clause banning NBA players, coaches or employees from speaking publicly about any subject, except basketball. The punishment for breaking the law would be death.

This is one thing which will immediately benefit every American.

Really? What was the death rate for measles immediately before the vaccine was introduced?

Children of God for Life - Aborted fetal Cell lines are used to make vaccines

Keyword: CogForLife

btw, i've been vaccinated for certain diseases when I was a child.. but what is happening today, with children getting 40 shots by 2 yrs., is overboard. And, presently, I have no opinion of the future Covid-19 vaccine as it's not created yet. Since most of those tested positive with Covid-19 have the symptoms of glorified cold, I think I will pass on it when it comes out. The regular influenza kills much more people annually. The swine flu under obama in 2009, killed 17,000 Americans plus those dying of the regular flu A & B and depending on the year, between 10k & 30K Americans die of the flu, including young children.

I'm with Trey.

I was like most sheep a few years back until I discovered the vaccine industry is wildly out of control.

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

"The Vaccine Lobby should be suspended, investigated, and indicted."

And this eugenicist prick should be hauled before Congress:

Good start with the NBA, but that should be extended to the NFL,NHL,MLB, NCAA, and professional actors and “activists” of assorted types.

I can tell you: In 1963, just before a vaccination for measles existed, there were (IIRC) 400-500 deaths in 3-4,000,000 cases. That would be a death rate of .01%. Ten times less than what we see for flu these days. That is according to cdc.gov.

He later suggested the hospital tried to prevent him from leaving with his baby without vaccinations.

He suggested it? Meaning he might be making it up? I can tell you without question it is entirely believable that a hospital would TRY to prevent you from leaving with your baby without vaccinations. And most new parents would probably concede and allow it even when their gut tells them not to.

If the doctor told you to put the contents of the vaccine in your baby's formula and have him/her drink it would anyone do it? Yet people complacently sit by while that same doctor injects it into that tiny human's body.

Infants are not even capable of producing an IgG immune response until at least 6-9 months old, and even at that the response would be rudimentary at best. So you're injecting viral material or, in the case of DTP, toxins produced by pathogenic bacteria without the desired prophylaxis whatsoever. Not to mention the toxic adjuvants added to multivalent vaccines. Can anyone tell me the health benefit of that?

Bingo! Give that man a gold star. If I can figure out a way to post the graph from the CDC website that shows the death rate virtually bottoming out in the mid-40's - fully 18 years before the introduction of the vaccine, I will do so. Clearly shows that the vaccine merely piggybacked on the natural declination and falsely claimed credit for it. Same thing with Diphtheria.

I was like most sheep a few years back until I discovered the vaccine industry is wildly out of control.

Not to mention our beloved government, in their infinite wisdom, in 1986 removed the threat of liability for pharmaceutical companies for vaccines...only vaccines...no other drugs. Now, why would that be? Could it be that the same government that MANDATED those vaccines doesn't want to be held responsible for the injuries they've caused?

Now, if you want justice if you believe you or a loved one has suffered an adverse affect from a mandated vaccine, you get to plead your case to the Feds. How nice.

Immunity from lawsuits is one issue but what goes beyond the pale is the evolution of how law requires children as young as 3 to have certain vaccines.

The LAW says it must be so.

The LAW.

If your child is not vaccinated, you are in violation of LAW.

Casting aside for a moment the accounts of Gates and others using vaccines to deliver tracking and identifying coded elements into the body as a 'Mark of the Beast', such accounts being "too far out there", "Can't be, would never happen", "Only nutty people would think it", such reactions coming from persons socially programmed by today's popular media, let's look at an example.

From the CDC website:
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/hcp/vis/vis-statements/hep-b.html

> Excerpt
----------------------------------------------------
Hepatitus B
Hepatitis B is spread when blood, semen, or other body fluid infected with the hepatitis B virus enters the body of a person who is not infected. People can become infected through:

Birth (if a mother has hepatitis B, her baby can become infected)

Most people who are vaccinated with hepatitis B vaccine are immune for life.
----------------------------------------------------
> End Excerpt

All American children must be vaccinated by LAW for Hep B even as the vaccine may or may not immunize them.

Since I was a child, the number of mandatory vaccines has grown from 4 to now 60.

It is glaringly obvious the vaccine lobby is growing a herd of cash cows to be milked under color of health and made mandatory by law.

The revenue streams are enormous. The elite of society are drawn to it like flies to honey.

Oligarchs with no training in medicine or medical science find the enterprise of vaccines to be the perfect virtue signaling activity for their tax dodging foundations. Board seats are bought and surrogates are used to monitor and steer vaccine policy.

The vaccine lobby needs to be suspended, investigated, indicted.

Those of us who are aware and vocalize our findings, including MDs among us, become targets for ridicule and possibly subject to disciplinary action including license suspension. We are not backed by media because we do not cut their paychecks.

If your child is not vaccinated, you are in violation of LAW.

Thank you. That was my point about the feds giving Pharma a pass on liability. The drug companies went crying to the government and threatened to stop production of mandated vaccines and the Feds happily complied with their wishes.

Could it be that the same government that MANDATED those vaccines doesn't want to be held responsible for the injuries they've caused?

No way. It's all for the greater good, right?
