For trolling the flubros… twice as many deaths today from covid as the flu?

And we’ll probably find out.

I recall he commented on some twitter feed - “Wow - 100 dead now due to the coronavirus.”

did he also comment on this?

This flu season alone has sickened at least 19 million across the U.S. and led to 10,000 deaths and 180,000 hospitalizations.

China Launches New Research Bases In Disputed Sea While World Distracted by Coronavirus

..China’s state-run news agency Xinhua reported that on March 20, two research stations were recently launched on two of China’s large man-made islands in the West Philippine Sea. One on Kagitingan (also called Fiery Cross) and the other on Zamora (also called Subi) Reef.
The Xinhua report said that the facilities featured labs on ecology, geology and the environment aimed at supporting scientists in field investigation, sampling and scientific research in the Spratlys, a hotly disputed territory in the Philippine waters but also with areas claimed by Vietnam and of course, China.

what could possibly go wrong?

Based upon that photo, at least the stay-at-home restrictions will have been lifted in April!

Hmmm - this sounds like a probable plot for a Sci-fy film. The aliens finally show themselves to help “save” the humans from this terrible virus. Of course we know how that ends.

“For trolling the flubros… twice as many deaths today from covid as the flu?”

They always pick the high end numbers to support their narrative.

Tomorrow or the next day, barring a miracle, CCP-19 passes the in-season flu daily death toll. :(

Their original arguments were all based on absolute numbers and they never listened to arguments about this spreading like, or worse than, the flu. Now it should be obvious to any but the true Village Idiots. It’s NOT the flu.

Good info.!

That makes me feel a lot better about weekly supply runs...

I still think that if America really wants to get back to work, until a vaccine is available, we need to crank out N95 masks in a very big way (a billion a month?), and more effectively solve some off the problems with them in summer temperatures and (in much of the US) humidity.

South Korea’s CFR has crept up to 1.4% and is on track to exceed 2%. Active cases are falling as new recoveries are running more than double new cases.

They were looking at averages, using 50k dead from the flu and 35k dead for car wrecks in a year. Comes to about 232 deaths per day for both.

I was just trying to find daily death numbers for the USA but couldn’t find anything simple that tracks it (help!?).

But I think yesterday there were 740 deaths, and now we are over 1000 deaths - so something like 260 deaths today.

Of course, the average number of car and flu deaths will still be 232 for tomorrow. Covid-19 deaths will be 300+ tomorrow :(.

I've been pretty pleased using Worldometers for tracking all the numbers...

I read a blog awhile ago about a guy that wore his N95 riding a bike, 2 to 3 hours a day in a fairly polluted city. After a week of riding he got the mask tested at a 3M facility. It still had 98% of it’s original capability.

One doctor said he was using the same two face masks until the rubber bands stretched too much. I bought a pack of rubber bands at Staples to replace mine if need be.

I have to tie a little knot in the band that goes behind my pencil-neck to make it tight enough in the first place!

Thank you for the link. That’s what I was using but I didn’t click in the right spot - I was looking for the daily case and death charts for the USA that I thought I had seen before - THANK YOU(and book marking so I don’t lose it again.)

Tomorrow or the next day, barring a miracle, CCP-19 passes the in-season flu daily death toll. :(

As far as deaths, it has always been clear that without massive effort, this virus would be far worse than the flu. We saw that happen in Italy, where they refused to act before their hospitals were overwhelmed, then struggled to implement measures. With 5.5X Italy's population, their death rate would mean over 41,000 Americans dead in a single month. Without action, those numbers would still be rising exponentially instead of tapering off. There is a reason no country was willing to let CV19 burn through their population.

so far, parts of America can get back to work:

America’s incomplete coronavirus shutdown

If President Trump follows through on his statements that he wants to “open” the U.S. up again, an already patchwork shield of state “stay at home” orders could look like even more of a patchwork.
The big picture: As of Wednesday night, just 21 states have ordered people to stay at home, and most of those are states with Democratic governors. Only six — Ohio, Indiana, Idaho, West Virginia, Massachusetts and Vermont — have Republican governors.
