Thread #26 here:

On the same day that Governor Inslee signed the plastic ban ban in my state.
“FEMA and the National Guard could have been building field hospitals and putting supplies in place”
Military pandemic plan was put into action mid February. What were they doing?
As a CT person, I am actually feeling better on the inside of the “dangerous state” list looking out than I would be on the outside surrounded by solipsistic flu bros on the outside.
Folks in my town and area totally get it, and everyone has an excellent attitude—we will work together to do whatever needs to be done.
I agree. Governor de Santis should get the Mayor Ray Nagin (of New Orleans) Award for killing his constituency. The Governor of Nevada is only a runner-up for ordering that quinine products not be used to treat Wuhan Flu, because his order has no legal force for a variety of reasons.
All western democracies have large elderly populations. Including Japan, yet they fared much better than Italy has. It’s not as simple as “sick old people disease”.
Each new generational threat, along with every new shift of the technology curve - throughout the ages - creates a huge demand for solutions, and ushers in yet another rush phase of resources, specialists, education, training, career opportunities, etc.
I would expect that based on this experience, the US - and probably most countries - will elevate bio-terror from the semi-mysterious boogieman WMD class to very real, non extinction level national security threats that require real-time monitoring, detection systems, rapid response plans, multi-agency (fed/state/local) coordination charts, etc - the list goes on.
Then, detailed matrices cross-cutting geography, city/urban/suburban/rural impacts, age, health, environment, ... the variable and permutations are practically endless. I really see the CDC or some kind of equivalent essentially being militarized and charged with responsibility for the entire bio-threat detection/response/management process. Consider it bio-NORAD.
Ultimately, the proglibs have a point: how were we so unprepared? (Not Trump's fault - not anyone's really to this degree). But what the hell where CIA, DoD, and the rest doing? Detect/defend against nukes yes, chem yes, but bio? Waiting for the Russians to launch an obvious attack? No one seemed prepared for how this all went down. End result: Multi-trillion $ hit on US economy, suspension/possible compromise of civil liberties, the list goes on. Truly, an epic break-down on par (or exceeding) Pearl and/or 9/11.
When Trump is done, he will have so many legacy moments it will be hard to count them. Dealing with CV, and the subsequent elevation and re-org of how this country treats bio-terror, will be just one of them.
The dining rooms at ours are cordoned off with yellow tape but cash still accepted at counter orders (I use card). Manager very accommodating; offered to let me use one of the outdoor chairs to sit and eat if it took it to the grassy area at the end of the lot. The outdoor patio area is closed as it is considered an outdoor dining area.
Utah Congressman Ben McAdams is still in the hospital recovering from #coronavirus. He has been in the hospital for 5 days and is still on oxygen as needed. He was admitted Friday night, a day after I interviewed him from his home.

“5 Dallas County Jail Inmates Tests Positive for COVID-19”
They incarcerate these men in large groups in the county jail. I’m be surprised if 90% of all the inmates and corrections officers are not already infected.

“Zerohedge is a Russian disinformation web site. It does the usual mix of cover stories and deception.”
...in addition to often linking to reports from legitimate news outlets.
the main issue with HCQ is, side effects - heart arrhythmias. (besides protecting supply for lupus and other maintenance users)
The hospitals that are treating with HCQ/Zpak, are doing so as part of a controlled double blind study to learn what the effects vs benefits are. If the regime is prescribed randomly outside a medical environment, outside a study, does that risk adding fuel to the fire of ICU unit demand, with adverse reactions/sudden cardiac issues, coming in needing instant care?
US - depends on the industry. from less than 100 (down to 1) and up to 1500.

What you’re talking about is the nationalization of healthcare.
The states failed in their roles here.
Maybe the 1918 outbreak was their failure too.
With the airlines and international travel of the age states just can’t/won’t fulfil their job anymore.
Anyone taking allergy meds for Allergy flare up wondering if they may actually have the virus?
It does stop my tickle and dry cough.
no fever, breathing fine, been going on about three weeks of claritin.
I am totally sure its just allergies....i think.
I would post a hypochondriac thread but, that would be a real magnet for jerks.
At the current rate, the U.S. will overtake Italy in number of coronavirus cases on Thursday and China on Friday https://t.co/0eB6aO5kI4— BNO Newsroom (@BNODesk) March 26, 2020
Finding cases is VERY good news.
LOL! at how it frightens people, but people are that way.
“but the data seems to point to this one guy as the epicenter of most of the action.”
Once this is all over, if he survived, LET’S GET ‘IM!
