A kid who licked toilets as part of the #CoronaVirusChallenge says he's now in the hospital with coronavirus. @gayshawnmendes was also just suspended from twitter
I slept in until 6:00. Then Jake sat down next to my head and said, “Mao!” several times.
I want a floofy kitteh to tell me its time to get up!
I’ve decided that since nothing productive today, being a holiday, and I’m not going anywhere, I’ll write letters and get some cards ready to be sent. When I get my mail situated. What a mess that is. And the one sheet of stamps that I printed correctly has no perforations on it so I have to cut the stamps off the page. Not easy to do when everything is stuck to the page!
I don’t know where to send them to get a refund for the entire set of five pages, but I need to get the money back on that bunch, as well, since only nine stamps were printed. What a job!
What plans are ready to be evented at the T-c household for today? Will the adult children be making appearances? And how is Elen, USMC?
Elen, USMC, phoned this morning, which is her evening, and says everything is fine, except they have ants in the barracks and she’s got ringworm. Also, they’re planning a fun campout to Tinian. That was sarcasm.
Anoreth is a maybe - but she usually shows up when she’s a maybe. Bill is going somewhere with his friends. Tom is a definite - he and I will make the dessert. That other former resident hasn’t confirmed, but I expect her, also I can spend my time with Tom, the fun son.
We just had choir practice. The next thing is undetermined, other than I’m going to sort laundry and then clean up muddy cat footprints from the kitchen floor, which I just mopped yesterday.
I’m glad Elen, USMC is enjoying her “opposition in all things” life overseas. She’s able to find humor in it, for sure, which is a good thing!
So what’s on the menu for the feast, today? I thought I wanted some peach cobbler, but when I thought more about it, I wondered what I would do with all of it but the one serving I wanted?
I finished a pink shawl today, with fringe, and pink is not only not a color I seldom, if ever wear, but fringe is something I reserve for classic looks. I still need to trim it, but I suppose the thing will sit around until I find a person/occasion to give it.
Now, on to the next project! (Wish it was the flag!)
Elen says it’s very hot in Okinawa. (I almost typed Oklahoma, where it was also very hot, but generally less humid than Okinawa.)
Steak, hot dogs, green beans, fresh tomatoes with mozzarella, ice cream, bacon peach cobbler.
DP said he’ll buy pool chemicals so Tom and his roommates can use the pool at their house. If Tom shows up early enough, with a list, they’ll go to Lowe’s.
I’m sure it will be very hot in AR, too, at 299’ above sea level. I’ve only been there in the summer once. The rest of the time, it has been in the winter.
The menu sounds yummy!
I’d love to go swimming. I’ve lost so much weight, I don’t dare wear my swim suit. But I think I’ll look for another, long about the time my plans for AR begin to gel. And I really hope the A/C works well!
We had to open the door and windows to avoid setting the smoke alarm off while Vlad cooks the bacon. Unfortunately, he’s also snacking on the bacon, which means we have to keep cooking more and more.
The pool at Lake Park is admitting only about 75 people total this weekend, so we aren’t even considering it. We’ll just hang out here.
I have no idea what the local pool is allowing this year. I keep telling folks that no matter what their beliefs, if this strain of flu had been allowed to run its course, it would have been over and done with. Period. But don’t get me started.
I hope your celebration was a pleasant one, yesterday.
I forgot to go get laundry change on Friday, so I’ll go begging today for the few bucks I need to get the two loads washed and dried tomorrow. I hate to do stuff on Sundays, but by the time I remembered, it was already too late in the day. I was already headed for bed and it was over 100°. I’ve been in the A/C too long...
“Mmmm... fishies!”
Good morning.
I’ll be so glad when my sleep patterns get back to “normal.” I’m in one of those vicious cycles where I wake up after a couple of hours and can’t go back to sleep for a couple more. So last night, I decided to wake up at 0200 and stay up, but it sure is a battle!
I’m thinking I want to go to 7/11 and try to get some quarters so I can wash clothes tomorrow. Then Tuesday, I can go to the bank and get enough for the next three or four weeks. *sigh*
I agree with your sigh. I woke up at 5:00 with a headache and a complaining cat, so I got up, had a drink of water and a pill for the headache, let the cat out, and went back to sleep on the sofa until 6:30.
I went looking for some quarters at 7-11 which was the only place open, and the surly attendant said he couldn’t give me $2 worth, but he could give me two quarters in change. So I’ll go to Sinclair in a bit and see if they can give me $1 worth, and Tuesday, I’ll go to the bank.
I’m sorry about your headache. I have a fairly bad case of nausea right now. I’m thinking of trading with someone for something a little less distressing.
My sofa has a pile of things to be mailed on it so I can’t lie down. I can’t get rid of them until my stamps.com account has been credited. Unngh.
This is going to be an excellent week.</sarc
I’m almost done the cleanup from yesterday’s events and guests, including the big floofy dog who was diligently shedding.
The stovetop still needs to be cleaned, but I’m tired of it all for now. Also, a cat has appeared to tell me that clean floors need dirty cat pawprints and cat hair.
That went well. I went to Sinclair and they weren’t open so I went to Walmart and bought a few things and paid with a $5 bill, and gloriosky, the clerk gave me an extra four quarters! I can wash clothes tomorrow!
The downside is I can’t find my house/mailbox keys. I picked up the mail on my way out, and now the keys are missing. I’ll check in the truck tomorrow and my backpack again a little later. Right now, I want to get rid of the nausea. Maybe a ginger snap will help.
So Anoreth and her big floofy dog made it to the shindig, eh? Good deal!
Cat paws are seldom dirty, but they can leave footprints and the cats certainly shed a lot of cat hair onto wet floors!
Dog liked the carp snack. The other former resident turned up after we were done eating, with some friends, and they shot off fireworks, which everyone in the neighborhood was also doing.
I stayed up too late, but I’ll recover by tomorrow.
I’m at loose ends today. Again. But I did bring in the boxes from the truck. I’ll worry about them later.
But before Tuesday, I need to cut off another stamp so I can mail a card.
I couldn’t understand why the envelope from St George was so fat, and when I opened it, there were four pages of forms to be filled out in addition to the three pages I filled out when I first applied to them almost five years ago. Background check as well as bank info, the latter of which I can’t provide because the online bank is in SLC. No branches.
So I’ll cut another stamp and mail a letter back to them politely declining their offer.
It’s official. I’ve lost my keys. However, the only thing bad about it is that my mailbox key was on there. I have a spare house key, but now I have to wait for Chuck before I can get a new mailbox key made. (Maybe I’ll go to Walmart tomorrow morning and get a new doorknob/deadbolt set, if they aren’t too expensive. Otherwise, I’ll have to pay for a new set that Chuck installs.)
I also had my mini-library card on there, and it links to my address so I sent an email to cancel the card. I hope nothing happens between now and Tuesday...
So now, I’m going to bed. Tomorrow is another day, and as my mother always said, if it isn’t, it doesn’t make a darn bit of difference! :o]
The morning floof is just what I needed! He looks like a marmalade that was just barely caught by a brush with dark brown paint! What a beauty!
Good morning.
The laundry is done, even though I didn’t get up until after 0200. I had to use the front-loading machine, though at 0310, the whine of the spin cycle is unearthly and eerily loud and grating. Still, I had a lot of sleep shirts that wouldn’t have fit into the top-loader because the tub isn’t deep enough. And I have a whole 25¢ left!! :o]
Today, I’ll finish what I started yesterday, and get everything ready to be mailed, so I can get the packages and envelopes off as soon as the reimbursement comes through. Maybe by the end of the week, maybe by next Monday. Only one is time-sensitive and that’s a pound of coffee that I bought for New Niece Kathy while I was in CO. Crikey. I need to buy more vanilla envelopes, too! It never ends, when genealogy is in the mix.
