We are all fine, thank you. Lots of math is being done, also bird-watching. The boys found my “virtual” Weight Watchers meeting this morning. It was very nice to see some of my friends.
How are you?

Doing good.
The garden is ready to be put in once it gets warm enough.
All livestock is doing well. We got three rather then one piggies this year. They were on sale and well... why not!
We meant to muck out the pond to make it larger and deeper this year but decided to make the garden bigger instead.
So pretty much same old, same old.
Oh Evangeline the Cow had a daughter that we named Priscilla in keeping with the Longfellow theme. We will be keeping her we hope.

There might be method to the madness of taking your temperature, but they’d be confused by mine, if they tracked it for a while.
My “normal” is 97.5°. It’s been going up the last few days, and today it was actually 98.6°, which very seldom happens.

We are doing good. His back is giving him problems. One of these days he is going to have to break down and go back to the pain center.
I am bored. Like pretty much everyone I suppose. The store has been closed down for the duration but two of the other tenants are paying their rent on time so I should be able to make the mortgage, just. The pizza place and the coffee and doughnut shop are still open for take out but the home decorating place is closed down. I am not sure they will make it.

Yeah, this will the first one we keep. She has always thrown boys before and they became baby beef when they were about a year old.
She is staying so she gets a name.

It’s hard to turn something into food when you’ve given it a name.

"Its hard to turn something into food when youve given it a name."Not to change the subject to a large degree, but this could explain why we as humans always ask at the first opportunity what a newborn child's name is.
Also never name your kid "Candy" or "Cupcake", (and clearly, when you do call them that it isn't an endearment but more of a warning.)
Just sayin'.

It depends on the name.
The shoats are named "Ham", "Bacon" and "Sausage". :)
But yeah we never name something that is going to become food. Technically we should not even be naming the cows but I refused to call Evangeline the Cow "Hamburger" or something like that.
And who knows, we just might keep her until she decides to go to cow heaven on her own. Could happen. We have the space.

Some cultures do not name their children at all until they are about five. Not because they are going in the stew pot but because so many of them die before that point. Others give them a baby name and then they get an adult or true name when they are twelve.
Same idea, if you do not name them you do not get attached. Works for animals, don't think it works so great for humans though.

"Some cultures do not name their children at all until they are about five." I seem to recall Pearl Buck having spoken of that in "The Good Earth". I think they called it a "milk name".

I’ve been going to the pain clinic for over four years now, and I never knew I could feel so good. I would encourage Mr HTB to go. They can do wonderful things, now!
I hope things get back to normal soon for you. And good luck with your critters! (Do you still make soaps?)

I’ve heard of the baby names versus true names in several cultures around the world. Interesting concept.
