New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Saturday that the state was reckoning with a significant rise in the number of coronavirus cases, the majority of which were identified in residents younger than 60. Cuomo announced there were 10,356 confirmed cases across the state, 6,211 of which are in New York City, and 54% of which are from patients who are between 18 and 49 years old.

What is happening is that tons of people get this, like the flu, but effectively only people with other serious health problems die from it.
80,000 US citizens die from the flu in a bad year. Tens of millions get it.
Just like COVID.
This is a no-brainer, stupid article.
No, just tested. Few are in a hospital, which makes this thread stupid hype.
These people arent in hospitals, but only tested positive.
The ones in hospitals are older with multiple other serious issues.
You are posting crazy hype and trying to spin it as the apocalypse.
So you have 14 days, from the 13th, to discover if you picked the virus up in your travel home from NY City or not.
I wonder if the younger patients in NYc had other diseases, e.g. HIV, substance abuse, live danage from drugss/alcohol/hepatitisC.
Not a lot of discussion of HIV patients in the epidemic, but it is a worry in the African press.
Its been shown in this thread that the current death rate in New York, which is 60, is .6 of 1% of those infected.
That is simple math and based on very accurate numbers.
I feel like a girl who just missed her period.
Isn’t Brooklyn predominantly black, with a chunk of Orthodox Jewish on the Staten Island side?
Actually it’s up to 14 days from exposure to the virus that symptoms will show if you’ve got it.
This would say otherwise, but who to believe?

Stay safe, big guy.
in 2010, Brooklyn was 36% black, 14% Hispanic, 11% Asian, and 36% white (Jewish -secular and Orthodox,Italian, Polish, Russian, Irish). Also many Middle Easterners.
12,000 infected, only 60 deaths; 0.005% death rate so far.
So much for the dramabug.
The median time period is only 5.1 days. Less than 3% present symptons after 11 days.
14 days is being extremely cautious.
“More or less than the swine flu in 2009? (12,000, in case you forgot).”
Only God knows.
I don’t really trust any stats anymore.
We have 60 serious cases, and the next day there are still 60, but 20 more are dead.
Clearly, those 20 were serious.
Yes, you are correct but there are about 250,000 Asians in Brooklyn. No small number.
Isnt Brooklyn predominantly black, with a chunk of Orthodox Jewish on the Staten Island side?
==
When was the last time you were in Brooklyn??
Geez.
One of the deceased (NY Covid19) males was an attorney (in his late 50’s, I believe), which an article also linked to his LinkedIn bio.
He was heralded as being a champion for local LGBQRST causes.
No mention of a spouse, in the main article.
Not that that means anything.
