I get what you are saying, and I know we all have to work together and make sacrifices, but it occurs to me whenever we want someone to act against their own self interest, we resort to emotional appeals.
It would have also been not only Patriotic, but Professional and Prudent for the people who understand disease, the same people who are responsible for, and paid handsomely to, protect the health care providers from disease, to have not allowed such horrendous shortages to occur in the first place.
The price is so low given the demand, individuals could buy and donate too. You do realize at zero return on cost much less profit, manufacturing ceases. Or is the vast production benefits of capitalism to be replaced by good intentions the way AOC thinks?
