I get what you are saying, and I know we all have to work together and make sacrifices, but it occurs to me whenever we want someone to act against their own self interest, we resort to emotional appeals.
It would have also been not only Patriotic, but Professional and Prudent for the people who understand disease, the same people who are responsible for, and paid handsomely to, protect the health care providers from disease, to have not allowed such horrendous shortages to occur in the first place.
It’s something the president asked for to help ensure health professionals have what they need. Sportsman’s Guide is choosing to do something different. I doubt, with all the products they have, that they would go out of business and what sportsman needs surgical masks? Do they normally sell them? Who’s buying them now? People that don’t necessarily need them?
Sell them at cost to hospitals then. No loss.
I hope we never do get in a real war.
