Italy’s native population has been shrinking fast for years, old people everywhere, the young men can’t find their wangers and the young women have their abortionist on speed dial. A people and culture in free fall.

The confirmed death rate tends to drop over time with most countries. US, for example, was over 4% to start, but is now at 1.3% and dropping. The reason is people start testing more people than just those really sick and so the death rate drops off. The confirmed death rate for the regular FLU is 10% for example, but the estimated death rate is less than 0.1%, because so many of the cases are mild. So, if the confirmed death rate for this is 1.3% in the US, and there are 10 assymptomatic people for every confirmed case, the actual death rate is 1/10th of that, or .13%. Italy is an unusual case with a VERY old population, heavy smoker, heavy obese in that region and 1/4 the hospital beds that the US has.

"Giovanni Maga from CNR told Euronews that in Italy a person who tested positive while alive or post-mortem is counted as a coronavirus-death."

In other news from the pages of The Journal of Sloppy Science:

"Heightened summertime ice cream sales are felt to be the cause of elevated urban murder rates during the warmer months."

After this, anyone who trusts a single word coming from China is a fool.
There’s simply no way given their population density that they had zero new cases. Impossible.

I don’t see any day of those I’ve collected where China has zero new cases. They have been quite low for a bit (268 reported cases between Mar 8-15), but now so far the past 3 days, +52, +17, +95. That variance may be because of time of day for sampling, but it appears there is an small upward trend again.

There were a fair number of cases right away in other places. Presumably they locked down those people hard. The province with Wuhan had 60000. Cases. The rest of China 20000. Scattered all over but mostly in the surrounding provinces and the big coastal cities of south and east. Check one of the data dashboards. All subject to caveats of course.

And just for clarification, Italy has 1/4 the # of hospital beds PER CAPITA, obviously way less than that in total

Went to Fayetteville Arkansas today at the hospital. Met at the door, got asked questions and had my temp taken.”It’s low!” she said.
I said “It’s cold outside.”

Some people wore masks or bandanas most did not. Most people continued their lives as usual. It is not our first virus rodeo.
You ride it and win,
or ride it and get thrown,
or ride it and get thrown and stepped on,
or ride it and get killed.

Pingaling, this appears to be your kind of thread! Shirley you can amplify the fear mongering with a few of your visuals and panic wording. Just keep ignoring the hydroxychloroquine news since it blunts the panic vapors.

Are all of these fatalities “Italians?”

There is supposed to be a substantial presence of Chinese there, or did hear wrong.

The change in active cases is going down in Iran. Active cases are still increasing, but at a slower rate as more people recover relative to new people being infected. This is needed if hospital beds and supplies are limited.

The diamond princess cruise ship is actually the best data we have since they did such wide testing. 1% died, despite a significantly skewed elderly rate (as is typical with cruises) with 40% being assymptematic, especially among the young. What that means is in a more normal population that doesn’t skew elderly, the death rate would be significantly lower than the 1% the Diamond princess cruise ship, possibly by a very large amount.

Glad you reposted this. People need to read and learn that all centralized governments (i.e. the EU) destroy everything they touch. That is why the UK wanted out of the EU and Italy has wanted out for a long time now.

Trump has been talking about the evils of China for decades when no one would listen.

Bingo we have a winner. I have always said you need to add a couple of zeroes to China’s death toll. The CCP lies like a dog when it comes to saving face.

Italy reached a new high today reporting 4032 coronavirus deaths to date The Chinese government has rendered more deaths in Italy through the pandemic they covered up and facilitated than the US suffered on 9/11 and unfortunately there are more to come. I would not be surprised if the Chinese communist government now tries to create a false narrative to call it the Italian virus based on the logic since Italy suffers the most from it, it only stands to reason they must have started it.
