I spoke with electrical people about turning these down at night and they all said absolutely not. Just set it and then leave it alone. it costs more to heat the unit back up on a cold morning then if you just let it run through the night. Added benefit....no cold rooms to wake up to ever again!

Even at around zero F they keep my house warm enough during the day, but the interior temp does drift down a bit when it’s colder at night. And it’s not a state of the art energy efficient house, either. Built in 1968.

The strategy they are apparently following is best seen as a teenager learning how to drive:
—Hit the accelerator (no serious actions, virus infects 5% of the population).
—Slam on the brakes (we are here now)
—In a few months hit the accelerator (allowed time for hospitals to catch up, need to get the economy moving for a while)
—Slam on the brakes—again! Virus has infected another 10% of the population (several months pause)

Crazy, right—but if Chris is correct, then this is exactly the plan. The idea is to gradually build herd immunity with periodic breaks to let the economy recover for a while.

Yep and they’re well worth the investment. The landlord was so impressed he bought one for the basement laundry room so nochance of pipes freezing. Took the weight off his mind entirely as one year it was brutal cold and they froze.
Also my son put one in his bathroom which sits over his garage and always colder than the rest of the house. And my neighbor got a couple because they had electric baseboard heat....they love them too and never use the baseboard heat at all.
So far I can appretiate what they are doing. Now if the public will cooperate sufficient enough to make it work. People can certainly be fickle when it comes to cooperating for very long...esepcially if they lack understanding why it’s being done.
Well I went around my apartment and discovered the outside brick mortar was dry and loose. The landlord had a fellow come out and refill all that and it stopped all the drafts.
Before he did that I bought the rolls of silver covered thermal bubble wrap and tapped it to the one wall in the winter. Worked great even though I didn’t like the look...better to be warm than pretty! LOL I think the whole roll was like $20 and I had plenty left over.

I used that in my shed along with the foam block insulation. I like how it looks! The entire interior wall surface of the shed is like that. The slightest bit of light inside makes it bright with all the reflectance.
Looks like the Euroweenies are effectively held hostage. Complement China and beg for desperately needed medical equipment and supplies, including public phone calls from heads of state, or watch your people die. Looks like no equipment for us, but we will make our own. I hope we learned our lesson. I thought it would be technology that would wake us up. Instead, it’s medical equipment and pharmaceuticals.
I honestly bought the paper towels as an emergency back up. I’ll probably sell most of them to my summer employer. Clogging could be an issue. I would likely perform a courtesy flush and then use the paper towels, and allow them to soak for some time before flushing. Also, I would be frugal with the material using the bare minimum. As it is, I have what I consider to be enough t.p. for several weeks. An impetuous act during a moment of weakness (in buying them) for sure.
Nothing.
What use is this organization if it does not get involved in this world wide crisis ?
