Many people are convinced that China’s lockdown worked, prevented infection and that we should immediately follow suit. I disagree. An article in The Lancet, a medical periodical, studied the early phase of China’s epidemic, and concluded that the virus had spread to all corners of China before they even started the lockdown in the Wuhan area.
So by inference, they had positive cases that began probably in early December 2019, probably even in November. The so called lockdown started on January 23-24th, when they realized they had several atypical pneumonias in their hospitals in Wuhan, linked to the COVID-19 virus. By the time they implemented social distancing, the virus had already infected thousands. By that time it was too late.
Like the common cold, coronavirus is spread not as much by people contact, but more by environmental factors. This means if you are in a congested city, there will be more sickness. If you live in the county, less so.. The approach the world is taking to this virus is dead wrong. Social distancing does nothing. The best thing to do is just take precautions like you would for a common cold. This is virus that doesn’t require person to person contact.
People are just vectors for environmental spread. It will run its course in 6-8 weeks and that will be it. We might as well enjoy our lives, because there is little that one can do to stop it. The saving grace is that it is not as lethal as as the misguided experts are saying. Chance of death = 0.22%. Most of the deaths will occur in individuals over 70.

Completely and utterly disagree with this doctor. While surface contact can be a vector the high contagion level of this virus coupled with initial studies that show a 3 hour air time infer that this thing is essentially spread by airborne contact.
I think this was supposed to be unleashed three years ago, to “unify” the world under BJ’s wife’s rule.
Having failed with all others, they figure it’s just as good as a weapon against Trump and America.

I cannot see how “social distancing” makes anything worse, and thing this doctor’s “advice” is clearly not helpful.
The statistics are important, but I certainly didn’t grow up believing it’s no big deal when your parents or grandparents die. Even if they have pre-existing health issues.
Flu isn’t spread in groups and people to people?
How do the surfaces get contaminated? Uh, by people.
What we need is warm weather and sunshine coupled with higher humidity.
You can wash your hands and keep them away from your face but you can’t prevent contact when it is airborne and it is airborne.
I would not want to be diagnosed by a doctor with this lack of attention to established facts on the ground. It wasn't "too late." Drastic measures - social distancing enforced with guns and welding torches - have pretty much stopped it - if we believe Chinese statistics - and if they are wildly wrong we would have known it by now.
And Taiwan stopped it before it got started. Singapore and Hong Kong have it well in hand, and South Korea got it under control after it looked like it was out of control there.
I pray for Italy. But that is the point, and his license should be pulled.

Doctors getting sick and dying in various countries. One would assume they either washed their hands and/or wore gloves. It is on surfaces & airborne. Social distancing + handwashing woumd help a lot.

Bubble wrap seniors and get on with living. Take the seniors out of the equation and hospital overload, infections and deaths go to normal flu season. Shut the economy down to protect the octogenarians, dragging their oxygen tanks, from caronavirus now so the flu can take them next winter.
