State budgets in jeopardy.

States turn to cash reserves as coronavirus strains budgets

If this goes on for even a couple of weeks from here, some states could go BK.

You make an excellent point: Something extraordinary is happening. This is a once in a century event in the history of mankind.

I am trying to step back and take it all in and process it in a historical context.

I wonder how my kids will describe this to their grandkids.

It’s THAT type of event.

This is why so many people are struggling with accepting what is happening.

While I “appreciate” the warning, I don’t think the government likes having everything closed. It gives them less to seal.

Larry Kudlow looks and sounds great here. Just the right energy and tone and on top of every question.

Whoever patched up his heart a few years ago seems to have done a great job!

It’s going to get easier though. Say we are 6 weeks down the road from now. 20% of population has had it and resolved. Cases are declining due to social distancing measures. The health system is holding up.

Area by area, they can ease or tighten restrictions, or go to a full on movement stop, based on trying to maintain an acceptable level of infections.

It will be a strange time. Restaurants are open, then they are closed for two weeks (those businesses, and many others, will have a hard time adjusting) Schools are open for a time, then closed for two weeks, then opened again.

More and more as the percentage of population that’s had it resolves, restrictions will become less necessary. Those who have had it and cleared can be given a “green light” status, i.e. they can move about at any time. You might even see jobs become available just for those people with resolved cases.

Hey, maybe all the easing will lead to eventual inflation that floats CT out of its debt!

Oh really? How many do we know that are diagnosed and died of corona, had a “flu” vaccination?

***************************************

I would venture to guess every dead assisted living resident had both a flu shot, as well as a pneumonia shot. I would bet on it.

My MIL’s nursing facility is closed. No visitors unless they are actively dying. And even then, the visitors are monitored. Yikes.

We can pack a “care package”, put her name on it, and leave it in the vestibule.

This is a good thing to keep it out. But, damn.

The issue isn’t something getting “resolved”, it is, as they say, flattening the curve so our medical system doesn’t break down like Italy’s has, unable to handle all the serious illness and forcing triage as to who gets life-saving care.

Also, the more the curve is flattened, the more time we are buying for better treatments to cure those who do get seriously ill.

How come you're not hiding out at your place in ID?

What are your thoughts on the proposition that CV has been present in the US for the same amount of time as China, Iran, Italy & Europe? (That is, since the late November, early December 2019 time frame.)

How many flights/day between Asia & California - with hundreds/thousands of passengers - were arriving/departing out of SJC, SFO & LAX before Trump initiated the respective travel bans?

Can you imagine the statisticians and modelers just itching to get some data once testing really gets underway? What if it's determined there are already 500k infected in the US, but for whatever reason we're not experiencing similar illness levels and/or same impact on the medical infrastructure?

Once the history chart begins to be fleshed out, we're going to have a much, much better idea on where the hell the peak of the curve really is. Of course, the contra case would be that we had essentially nil until last month, which means we really ARE in for a shit show 4-6 weeks from now.

This is why so many people are struggling with accepting what is happening.

That's a perfect term. It's incomprehensible to many that something like this could happen. I wonder how that works out as far as faith goes? I'm a very strong believer...a strong christian. I know that God is in charge. I know that these types of things are prophesied by Jesus. I know that death is not the end. I wonder if that makes it much easier to accept what's going on versus someone who is only living for the here and now? Would love to see a survey about it.
