Hi, Vision. I guess the hysterical madness over this damnable flu is going to prevail and destroy our nation. It’s infuriating.

Other than the imminent zombie apocalypse, how’s it going with you?

Hi Gina, all is fine here.

I see this situation as more hysterics than a real threat.

I look at it as a way of motivating me to clean out the pantry to restock the regular junk food. You know, tuna, Vienna sausages, ramen noodles mac and cheese. Stuff with the shelf life of quartz. I figure, why not? It'll all get used, bug or no bug. My bigger worry is everybody else prepping to Shelter in Place, we're gonna be down to our last roll of TP, and we'll end up reaching for the magazine rack. I got another ten gallons of filtered water that'll go into the tabletop water cooler when it's needed (we don't brew coffee or tea with what comes out of our pipes), and I got another case of TP that Connie brought in from the porch last night and sat in the dining room, and our cat, Pudge, immediately abandoned her box and won't get off the damn thing. She thinks it's a pillow-top mattress. LOL! I just went to Kroger and it looked like it was hit by a swarm of African locusts. Soup, pasta, everything non-perishable, all gone, or damn near so.

Oh, evening, folks.

Yeah, the stores here, too, Viking. The demon commies running this global media-hysterics campaign make me want to spit!

More important would be the amount of ammo I have in the proper calibers. Everyone is always talking smack about having ten cans for every weapon they’ve got; out here in flyover country, a couple of well-placed shots gets the message across, not to mention that neighbors don’t like having interlopers coming in to stir the broth, even if they don’t have community picnics together. Besides, the sheriff lives right behind me. He can be a two-faced, politicking, ornery PITA, but if the SHTF around here, you can bet the county pig pen 15 minutes from here will empty like a hornets’ nest with one push of a button. That’s kind of a warped sense of security, knowing the entire Chambers County Sheriffs Department could end up in your neighborhood and you never even had to dial 911.

I’m guessing the Walking Dead shows were kind of like preparatory workshop videos for our quickly imminent present time. Only different. :-/

Welp, here's your update: I had an appointment with my hematologist for tomorrow morning (this crap with having doctors inside and outside the network can drive you to drink), and I found a voice mail on my phone: after further consideration (as if I knew there were any to begin with), all outpatient appointments, including lab work, are canceled. Patients will be notified when new info is available, and we will be contacted once existing appointments are rescheduled. After a little web surfing, I discovered that there's a new Corona Extra Virus case - this time, in LaGrange, GA, 20 minutes from here and where the main hospital is and both my doctors have their offices. This Typhoid Mary was sick enough to get admitted and quarrantined. I saw Trump's 15 day statement, and pieces started to fall into place in that dark, cob-webbed, echoing noggin of mine. Tonight, The Queen wanted Taco Bell for dinner since I strained another pec doing something I shouldn't have and didn't feel like cooking, and when I got there, the inside restaurant was closed. They had someone outside directing customers to the drive-thru. When I left, it looked like several other places were following suit (being right off the interstate there, we have Fast Food Row, and a few pretty passable sit-down joints, too). The store shelves have been emptied of most non-perishables in the local area, as well, but I have a hoard of the most important commodity of all: TOILET PAPER! LOLOL.

I don't know what it's like where you live, but for better or worse, legitimate or not, it's starting to get real down here, folks. As if there haven't been enough of them filmed from fertile creative minds already, we are going to see virus apocalypse films pop up like toadstools for the next 25 years. (Actually, the independent ones are generally better than the usual Hollywood dreck.)

It’s the same all over the place, Viking. It makes me so angry I could spit! This is BOGUS! Over the FLU! These commies won’t let it go till it destroys our freedoms, the economy and the markets.
