The young man handed her a stethoscope, opened his shirt, and pointed to where she should place it. Hesitantly, she reached forward, pressed it to his skin, and broke into tears.

The heart Elisabeth Tilly heard inside the chest of a 25-year-old stranger was the same that once beat inside her son. Christopher, age 8, was killed more than two decades ago, by a truck barreling through a crosswalk in front of his elementary school. But the memory of her grievously injured son lying in a Salt Lake City hospital is still raw.

A few doors down from Christopher, 4-year-old Jon Hochstein was fighting for his life. His heart had enlarged, damaged beyond repair, perhaps by a passing virus, or just bad luck. His family wasn’t sure he would make it through the night

I love this story.

About seven years ago I had an assistant who was an angel. That’s why I hired her. One of those women that men fall in love with and women want to be around. Had a heart of gold, but also had some heartbreak in her life. One day she reads in the paper that a man in our small town, a retired policeman, needed a kidney. She did not know him. She just looked at me and said, I’m going to see if I am a match. She didn’t even think twice about it. She went in, was a match and she gave this man the gift of life. There are wonderful people in this world. I think of my friend, Kellie, often. After she did this deed, some wonderful things happened to her. A girl who she had given up for adoption when she gave birth as a teen (nobody knew about this) came back into her life. She was elated. She went all the way to Alaska, where she gave birth, to visit her and during the course of that visit, in a remote part of Alaska, she ran into the first love of her life, the man who actually was there when she gave birth to her daughter. He was not the father, but he helped her. He knew the family, but never realized that this young girl was Kellie’s biological daughter. At that meeting at a remote spot in Alaska, he tells Kellie that she was the love of his life and he will never let her go again. You couldn’t write this love story and make it more perfect. She married him and is now living in Alaska.

I like to think that her good fortune was the karma for doing such a selfless act for no other reason than she wanted to help a person in need. There are angels in this world. I know one.

I lost my son five years ago due to a aneurysm. With the consent of all the immediate family his organs were donated. We have heard from a few of the recipients and pray the rest have recovered enough to lead normal lives. I now carry the organ donation insignia on my drivers license. When I go, somebody please put the spare parts to good use.

I just skimmed the story but that guy is a walking miracle.

God must have some kind of big plan for him.

This young guy has been phenomenal with some great doctors.
It seems that the typical life expectancy after a heart transplant is 10 years. The longest was 24 years.

He has a plan for all of us. We may not know what it is, but that is the way it is.
