Indeed, this has been an active flu season. As for COVID-19, I would wait a few weeks until after hard partying Spring Breakers return home before declaring we are over the hump.

I have no question but that this virus is a bioweapon and they are using it to try to bring down Trump.
But I don’t think it is going to work. He got dinged on the tests, which the CDC (yes, Fauci and Rosenstein’s sister were probably both involved) set him up for, as well as the spotty checking/shutdowns after the initial China travel ban.
Yet he’s now got the war president optics down. People will understand the ding to the economy and more than ever agree with him on getting our manufacturing out of China and rebuilding our economy to be more self-sufficient. That will be philosophically huge for him.
Maybe also on controlling our border better too.
The surge in deaths such as in Italy is real from this virus, however, so I think we still need to blunt this impact. But will they be able to keep it going and revive it in the fall so as to interrupt the real campaigning and voting?
I don’t know. That may be a real battle with the games the CDC continues to try to play. Does Cash Patel have good enough contacts within intel to be able to get on top of or expose anything critical by then?
Also, some parts of the economy are taking real hits, but others are actually booming. What Trump needs to do is to take real action to restructure the economy by bringing critical industries home. If people can see and believe in that, they’ll be more than forgiving of the short-term economic hit.
Unfortunately, the flu shot this season wasn’t a good match for the circulating strains. IIRC, only 40% match.
Ask Dr for testing and antibodies. You should be a shoe-in with recent history. Hope this resolves quickly and uneventfully for you.

Same here. Caught the worst virus in many years on Black Friday and it hung on for weeks. Had extreme respiratory symptoms which seems to be the hallmark of this.

How do scientists determine the origin and essentially the age of a virus? Anyone?
“MAY” doesn’t hack it. Including “MAY” in the sentence makes it meaningless.

In 2017 959,000 were hospitalized and 61,000 Americans died from the influenza...It was much worse than the swine flu of 2009....No media hype, no panic, people went on about their business.

My daughter had a dry cough and fever most of Jan and Feb that was so bad that she had great rib pain.
She was xrayed twice, she had breath sounds in all lobes. scant rales, and was really really sick.
a couple of her co workers got it.
I helped care for her.
I had never seen anything like it before. She has recovered.
my daughter too.
Some docs called it an atypical flu.
no nausea or vomiting noted with corona
although my daughter vomited daily from coughing with what ever she had in jan feb.

That’s interesting. my doctor and said he didn’t think the flu vaccine was going to be too effective this year, and he didn’t think they were going to reformulate it halfway through as they sometimes do.
Well as of this AM Britain had a death rate of 8% in diagnosed to dead.
regular pneumonia and bronchitis will scar lungs.
