The flu is endemic. Everybody is exposed to it multiple times per season. We have some degree of herd immunity and vaccines. The Wuhan virus is not endemic and relatively few people have been exposed to it. There is no herd immunity or vaccine at this time. The goal is to keep the Wuhan virus cases low while we work on countermeasures.
If we keep on stamping it out as fast as we find outbreaks we have a chance to keep the numbers low - like South Korea, where it is only 9 times as lethal as the flu. If we fail, like Italy, we get 1 in 15 cases dead.
This article turned me from skeptic to thinking better safe than sorry: https://medium.com/@tomaspueyo/coronavirus-act-today-or-people-will-die-f4d3d9cd99ca
I will take this seriously when:
1) The IRS extends the tax filing deadline to June 15
2) The court system grinds to a halt
3) Every casino and mini-casino is ordered closed—even the Indians’
200 more cases in US than earlier today.

I think this WuHuFlu adds to the risks already known and documented.
Yes indeed....

The map is of the whole world and you can move it to the US and see for example that New York is now reporting 613 cases by clicking at the dots on the map.
A bit behind...I know Kentucky has 16 now..
I am talking to a friend right now in China. It is all over there.
Why do I find the entire coronavirus debacle more of a Democrat/Deep State play to screw up the world economy and inject socialism? That seems to be a far greater threat than the actual disease, frankly.
Pretty desperate play, actually, considering they have to get things done soon, or somehow artificially (and criminally) extend the virus incubation period to murder more people (which is what causing more deaths would essentially be equivalent to).
“Also just why have the Indian subcontinent and sub Sahara Africa been relatively spared.”
Because they don’t have adequate HCSs and can’t even properly test. A few hundred, or even a few thousand deaths would not really be noticed, yet. How long did it go under the radar in Iran?
And more folks killed in auto accidents also, but I bet no one ran out and bought every cleaning product for their cars or 90 rolls of toilet paper like they are. Our local stores do not have TP or cleaning supplies like Lysol. People have gone crazy for those things. Alabama has not had one case yet, and they are buying up the TP, for what in the heck I don’t know. Same like when we have a snowstorm. They run to the stores and buy bread and milk!! I always ask what they are going to do with those two items, put two pieces of bread in a bowl and pour milk on it?? Crazy damned people go crazy. JUST stay the hell home if you don’t have to go somewhere. If you do, just wash your hands, wear gloves or something like that. Then wipe the gloves and the steering wheel of the car off when your finished. No need in going absolutely berserk over it. Just use common damned sense and wash your hands!!! Jeeze, Thelma and Louise.
The point being, dont panic. Dont panic about the flu and dont panic about COVID-19. By grace through faith, rest in the protection of God in Christ and use common sense for both the flu and this COVID-19.
May be more up-to-date.
Amen brother, Amen.
Seems like the websites get updated no more frequently than daily.
or 48.
Lousiana is up to 67 cases and rising rapidly.
One death in New Orleans.
Most cases in New Orleans (44 plus)
Only cases identified are those in severe respiratory distress due to shortage of testing.
so if that is 1-4% of all cases, then the universe here is closer to 1;500 to 7000 cases
Hundreds of times more people have died from the common flu, based on what I’ve seen. Runs on stores, the hysteria, are just nuts.
At least it has people really keen about their hygiene. Otherwise, it’s nuts hysteria. Near as I can tell.
I don’t know if we get daily updates on the weekend.
Bureaucrats gotta get their rest and relaxation. Being so overworked and underpaid as they are.
