I want to share with you some scenes that greeted me at my local Kroger today.
These are scenes from a panicked populace.
Like locusts, they are stripping the shelves bare.
Kroger Toilet Paper aisle.
Kroger Deli Meat aisle.
Kroger bottled water aisle.
“Italy also does not have first world health care.”
Yeah, dirty filthy stupid Milan (a peer of Vienna or Zurich) is much worse at modern medicine than our shining exemplars in downtown Los Angeles, St. Louis and Baltimore.
Please get back to me in one month.
Locks Are coming Off,
.
Alrighty.
“Like Howard Hughes, you and and a lot of other Doomers are raging paranoiacs.”
Get back to me in one month.
(And the Italians are just pretending to kill off 100s per day, just to panic Americans.)
You forgot Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Atlanta... and a bunch of other places us flyover country consider to be foreign places.
Like I said, I’ll be right here. In the meanwhile, we’ve a trip planned next week to NOLA to do some fine dining. I’ll take my laptop along, and keep you informed of where we go, what sights we’ll see, and what restaurants we recommend when/if you decide to rejoin the human race.
My Kroger is about 8 miles north of yours, looked similar, not quite as bad, as of about 6PM Friday night. I was able to fill up one of those small carts with misc. fun stuff I wanted, already had the major stuff covered from earlier that morning and before.
Costco at opening Friday morning was interesting. Glad I didnt need TP. Did OK there, people were impressed I was buying a case of wine amongst other stuff, wasnt just filling a cart with OMG NEED FOOD AND PAPER PRODUCTS! Spent a solid half hour in the self-checkout line, maybe a tad longer.
Saw the GM on my way out the door (I know him), standing at the edge of the awning talking on his phone or radio. Gave him a thumbs up and a good luck, which he thanked me for, then kept on keeping on, God love him.
Im not concerned about the virus. Im concerned about our reaction to it. When did our society become so fragile?
Good book. Unfortunately between my first and second read my youngest daughter came down with Type I diabetes, which brought many points closer to home.
Fortunately if this is the beginning of something really major, I think the diabetics have a decent long-run chance.
Yes, but are they out of 22LR???
You have a ping list? How have I missed that? Sign me up.
Hey Laz how long do I have?
I dont know whats worse: getting the Wuhan Virus or going to the super market now.
Please add me. There was no toilet paper in my neighborhood store last night.
Seen it here in NOVA but limited to mostly bottled water, toilet paper, meat, disinfectants and supplements.
From what I understand (by listening to Walmart associates), this may be the first wave of shortage. Walmart’s distribution centers can restock the stores rather quickly — so far — but if the DC’s run short, the panic will get worse and last longer.
Normalacy bias is strong in some people......
I keep reminding people about these magic things in our kitchens called taps. And how water comes out of them.
How’s the sugaring season going up there?
It got warm so quickly I was concerned that it might not be a god season, but the temperatures have moderated to more seasonal so it seems like it should be good.
pseudo navy-speak for “wife”
Logic don’t work on the pants-pissers. /sarc
