The story so far: On March 8, India’s Health Ministry said the total number of the highly contagious coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the country had risen to 34. In December 2019, the World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared an outbreak of the febrile respiratory illness of unknown etiology from Wuhan, Hubei Province of China. The outbreak was epidemiologically linked to the Wuhan Seafood Wholesale Market involving the sale of seafood and live animals. Later named COVID-19, it has now spread to more than 90 countries apart from China, — there are 101,923 confirmed cases and 3,486 deaths from 94 countries, areas and territories (as on March 7, 10:00 CET). WHO has declared the outbreak as a “Public Health Emergency of International Concern.”

Only 34 confirmed case? Either testing is lacking or India is doing a good job of screening foreign arrivals.

They aren’t testing. In that disease ridden cess pit, most people wouldn’t notice a new bug anyway.

It must be the curry.

Or it was Indian scientists who created it.

Stay tuned for the Karachi flu.

It’s hot there, so maybe that bodes well for the next few weeks as it warms up.
There doesn’t seem to be a consensus on whether warm weather is supposed to stifle the virus.

I hope it is the curry because since coming back from the cruise I am consuming prodigious amounts LOL. Seriously though isn’t turmeric the new health fad now? Curry powder is loaded with it besides coriander & cumin.

Yes when Trump visited India a week or so ago, it was already hot there.

Curry is supposed to be great for all kinds of issues. I think it’s the turmeric.

Because it’s an unknown. This year the flu season hit early with type B. That hit younger patients hard. Then the type hit and has lasted longer than usual

The viruses are tricky. Just when you think you have them figured out they mutate

Screening people arriving from high infection areas seem to be the best from what I am seeing.

To: entropy12; All

A country of 1.39 BILLION people, and not a single ONE has ever had a solid bowl movement.

India IS a Petri dish...and yet, bupkis as far as this current virus is concerned?

Either our Enemy Media is LYING to us about known cases throughout the world, or India is really, REALLY good about hiding whatever disease-of-the-week is rampant there.

I’m going with the Enemy Media lying to us and blowing it all out of proportion.

It is. I use Sun brand Madras curry powder and the second ingredient is turmeric. A very good balanced curry. Indian men rarely have prostrate cancer and it is thought to be due to their high intake of turmeric.

The fact is that as in all previous pandemics population genetics is the prime factor determining how a disease spreads and just who becomes ill and dies. It would seem that people on the Indian subcontinent and subSahara Africa have been largely spared.
