Russian election meddling is back -- via Ghana and Nigeria -- and in your feeds
CNN ^ | 03 12 2020 | Clarissa Ward, Katie Polglase, Sebastian Shukla, Gianluca Mezzofiore and Tim Lister

The Russian trolls are back -- and once again trying to poison the political atmosphere in the United States ahead of this year's elections. But this time they are better disguised and more targeted, harder to identify and track. And they have found an unlikely home, far from Russia itself.

In 2016, much of the trolling aimed at the US election operated from an office block in St. Petersburg, Russia. A months-long CNN investigation has discovered that, in this election cycle, at least part of the campaign has been outsourced -- to trolls in the west African nations of Ghana and Nigeria.

They have focused almost exclusively on racial issues in the US, promoting black empowerment and often displaying anger towards white Americans. The goal, according to experts who follow Russian disinformation campaigns, is to inflame divisions among Americans and provoke social unrest.

The language and images used in the posts -- on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram -- are sometimes graphic. One of the Ghanaian trolls -- @africamustwake -- linked to a story from a left-wing conspiracy website and commented on Facebook: "America's descent into a fascist police state continues."

The Russians have been helping Democrats for 100 years, since the Bolshevik Revolution. That tradition continues:

It’s an echo of the Russian operation to convince people that Uncle Sam invented AIDS to kill blacks:

Another way of putting this is that while the Uncle Sam does do some PR work to make the US look good, the Russians have a century-old tradition of spending money not just to promote itself, but to make the US look bad. It’s not that big a deal, in the overall scheme of things, but the Russians don’t just see the US as an adversary, it actively promotes enmity against the US among not just countries allied to the US, but also among unaligned countries. Is this a good use of Russian taxpayer funds? You’ll have to ask Vladimir Putin, without whose express permission these efforts couldn’t be funded.

Using Ghana and Nigeria .... Russia trying to hold to their 2016 $100,000 budget for election interference. Going to target the same people that fall for The Nigerian Prince email scam...you know, the gullible ones.

Even assuming it’s a legit story, the reality is that the disturbance created by some lame trolls from West Africa pales in comparison to the damage done to our election process by deep state puppets at CNN and the rest of the MSM.

They are amazing at simply ignoring counter arguments, especially, oh say, the whole fact that Bloomberg spent $500,000,000 trying to get himself elected and failed spectacularly. But our whole election system is somehow teetering on the brink from alleged $100,000 of anonymous facebook ads.

Russian operations to sow hatred against the US abroad are a century-old tradition. CNN is interested in bush league stuff like this because it detracts from real problems that they would rather not address, such as the massive and growing Russian nuclear force that Trump sought to balance by growing the US nuclear force in response. CNN really hates that Trump (and Bush) exited US arms control agreements with Russia. So it focuses on penny ante stuff like Russian disinformation ops rather than giving credit to Trump and Bush for arming up against the real Russian threat - of a reinvigorated Russian nuclear force.

That explains it.

My internet friend, Prince Chukwuma of Nigeria told me that I have to vote for President Trump before he can send me that $42,000,000 he promised to send, after I gave him my banking information.

Tulsi Gabbard and Jill Stein are Russian agents. So is anyone claiming that Ukraine did any interfering. And the Walkaway movement. And Trump. And Bernie. Is there anyone who isn’t a Russian agent?
