VANITY post. Please add your own and I hope someone 'in charge' reads this.
A number of my doctor friends are telling me this:
1. Patient A goes to a primary care doctor with flu-like symptoms. Fever, cough, etc. and tests negative for the flu. They had just returned from international travel.
Tells staff to request a coronavirus test. Told "patient doesn't qualify" UNLESS he or she has been to one of the specified countries (Italy, China, Iran) or has been near a specific person that has tested positive.
2. Patient B. Back from a cruise. Flulike symptoms. Not to hot zone or didn't know if they'd been near someone with it. NO TEST.
3. Doctor described navigating the government maze of people to call to request the test as similar to calling the IRS. A nightmare. It's like the folks at the DMV were put in charge of this pandemic.
To be clear: these are ENTRENCHED do-nothing government workers who likely never had to actually lift a finger.
3. Insurance company. Full battery of tests run on the patient EXCEPT insurance won't cover COVID-19 testing because not in one of those counties and with someone verifiably suffering from the virus.
CONCLUSION: Lie to your doctor or they won't test you.
Rep. Katie Porter tweeted that the battery of tests they run costs $1,331 per patient. Is cost the issue?
North Korea is testing 200,000+ people so far. We are under 10,000.
Why?

At this point in time, it takes 48 hours to determine if the culture taken is the virus. Unlike the equally dangerous influenza virus which has been around for years and testing results can be determined within an hour..........
Free drive up testing in Denver.
***********************************
So this SINGLE drive up testing facility tested 160 patients in a single day. If this is typical, its clear that the problem is not at the patient/tester interface. The article states that it takes 72 hours to get the results back. If theres a backlog its at the location(s) that process the test kits and that is where the troubleshooters need to focus their attention.
Linda is self quarrantining with a life-sized cutout of John McCain, so he’ll be OK.
Korea has done a fantastic job of containment. They jumped on it, isolated cases and tested early. Cases are going down now.
Contrast this with the CDC response. You will see the results by end of the month.
Until there is a vaccine there’s really no point in testing. It’s not like there’s a separate COA for SARS-2. They treat the symptoms just as they do the flu. The patient is marked with ‘Caution: droplet risk’ signs and all staff wear gloves and a face mask when entering the patient’s room. At least that’s how it was at my hospital when I went in with a mystery flu-like illness 7 weeks ago (no fever). They discussed testing for what they called Wuhan virus but they didn’t have a test kit.
My daughter has a fever and cough after visiting us in San Jose, California (a hot spot) and used the San Jose airports with the TSA Agents that were patting people down and now have Corona virus.
The doctor would not test her. Ugh.
...Testing for coronavirus typically uses reagents, which are chemical substances used in laboratory analyses. The reagents extract, purify and stabilize RNA, or ribonucleic acid, in samples taken from patients suspected of having COVID-19.
Thats the first step in confirming or ruling out a tentative diagnosis. Qiagen says it leads the world in this type of testing.
Testing demand has led to a shortage of reagents for the RNA extraction process, said Dr. Eric Blank, the chief program officer for the Association of Public Health Laboratories, which represents state and local governmental health laboratories in the USA and responds to disease outbreaks....

Who the hell is responsible for planning to assure adequate & timely supply of the reagents? HOPEFULLY NOT ROD ROSENSTEINS SISTER AT THE CDC.
Cant you effin pay for it with cash? Who care what insurance says?
Congress has the same healthcare we peons have?
Dont think so. Theyre the politburo; were the serfs.

Couldn’t agree more. Taxpayer-funded Cadillac insurance for the Congresscritters, high-deductible worthless insurance for us peons.
Why can’t we just develop our own kits? We should not be relying on China for ANYTHING.
More like $3,000 per coronavirus test.

Ah. They dont want to panic the public with truth.
Thanks for posting.
Easier said than done when many cannot afford to take off work if they are sick.
Both Labcorp and Quest can test.
Really? I was at Quest yesterday for routine blood work and there was a sign on the door saying that they do NOT test for coronavirus there. Maybe it varies from state to state? Or county to county?
I posted an email from a hospital with a few thousand patients a day.
Im telling you that urgent care places are referring folks to hospitals. Telling them dont come to our facility. Go there.
They go and no testing.
Lets assuje your theory is correct and what you described is the national norm.
Do you actually believe only 77 people wanted to be tested in the past week?
More likely (per a poster response here) they are out of a key ingridienr to test and are lying to the public to prevent panic.
It is a failing. Let’s admit it,’ Fauci says of coronavirus testing capacity
“The system is not really geared to what we need right now,” Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said at a House hearing.
An admission is first step to correction. This verified the premise of my thread. Thanks to those that responded with useful info.
Trump has gotten the private sector involved. Those restrictions are no longer true. They were true early early on
Thats why Trump got LabPro and Quest involved
These were early stages. Trump has over ridden the restrictions.
