One of the nations top health officials leading the coronavirus response on Wednesday admitted it is a failing that individuals cannot easily get tested for the disease in the U.S.
The system is not really geared to what we need right now what you are asking for, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, told a member of Congress during a House Oversight and Reform hearing Wednesday.
That is a failing. It is a failing. Let's admit it, he said.
Fauci made the remarks under questioning from Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) about why people who need testing havent been able to get it, including nurses who are taking care of coronavirus patients.
The idea of anybody getting it easily the way people in other countries are doing it, we're not set up for that. Do I think we should be? Yes, but we're not.

The health care system that is failing and failing to provide testing kits for the coronavirus is called ObamaCare.
The population of those countries vs the US?
Obamacare
So how many people in this country get tested for the flu?
SFAIK, last year was the first time I was ever so tested and this was because I went to a hospital ER when my temperature was elevated.
ML/NJ
That’s because most of the time government bureaucrats spend their days surfing porn at their desks and counting the days till they become pension eligible.
So, if you have the symptoms (like any other flu), you stay home and recover and self medicate, if worse then you go to urgent care or hospital to get IVs (there’s no vaccine yet).
I believe testing should be easy to get - but targeted at those who need it.
If there were “Come in and Get Tested” shops all over there would be a crush to get tested - but that all means nothing if you catch it tomorrow.
The US had months to develop a test and mass produce...big fail.
We cant have any tests without our primary care doctors ordering them first.
“The health care system that is failing and failing to provide testing kits for the coronavirus is called ObamaCare. “
Has zero to do with Obamacare. Major fail is going on is what is happening and Trump should of put a stop to it 3 weeks ago and got the damn kits out and away to test it faster.
Shut the F up you government scumbag
That we haven’t adjusted well before now is an indictment of our system and administration.
We can only assume the same pathetic response pertains to expanding our ventilator and ICU capacity.
No good to buy a little bit of time if you haven’t simultaneously made the big moves to ramp up the capacity we will be needing.
This has NOTHING to do with Obamacare, and everything to do with complete ineptitude on the part of the CDC.
There WAS a test available from the WHO back in early Jan. The CDC chose to ignore that test and tried to create their own. When they actually used that test, they found it was flawed. So, they had to create a NEW test.
Result? 6-8 weeks lost in testing where this thing truly is.
“The population of those countries vs the US?”
S.K is doing 10,000 test per day. We have done 10,000 in 3 months. Major fuark up and Trump needs to address it and squeeze some balls.
Nothing to do with Obamacare.
Trump had better get this up and running or he is going to be replaced come fall especially with stock market in freefall and jobs are dropping like flies over this virus
Thing just popped up recently so how can tests be available so soon and so fast?
“We cant have any tests without our primary care doctors ordering them first.”
Doctors and hospitals have been screaming for 6 weeks to get test. The US govt has failed.
Agreed. This isn’t an Obamacare thing. This required rapid massive federal government moves. Trump relied upon his industry-compromised experts at the CDC, HHS, etc.
Now the issue is huge.
You can almost put the area of three Europe’s into the US; Greece for example is the size of Alabama, Germany’s area is like Montana (800 miles corner to corner).
