I would have no problem with that. But it will be a disaster for the economy, the stock market, hourly workers. The 401-k holders will be out in the streets with weapons. And layoffs will break all records. But if that is the only way to stop it, I have no problem.

But I can assure you, it is not politically possible and not going to happen. Any other ideas which are possible in practical terms?

This is a very simple game. You play to win--or you lose. If winning is not "practical", you lose.

People are able to coalesce in times of threat to the tribe. It’s in our DNA. In much of America there is still enough cohesion to make the impossible, possible.

Because many do see/perceive an existential threat that could touch them too. Whether that’s a real concern is irrelevant.

It would not surprise me to see major social lockdowns in the states.
