On a crowded train from Vadodara to Mumbai in India, I am assuming, because I was down the next day with high fever and soon puss filled blisters covered my entire 8 year old body.

there is some good news in this video of Fauci...

CDC to finally start proactive surveillance testing.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/going-worse-fauci-coronavirus-155101078.html

The bad news is that he says our ability to mitigate this outbreak will depend upon our ability to restrict inbound travel AND the ability to isolate outbreaks.

The virus is uncontained. It’s likely to get worse before it gets better.

What should be happening at the state level now is construction:

—Location of quarantine areas
—Building of fences and other defensive perimeters around those areas

Georgia is the only state (that we know of) that has taken this action.

I agree. If this is true (and I’m skeptical) I could imagine all kinds of reasons for needing some info to be classified.

How are you and your loved one?

The National Guard should be called—and receiving updated training on their role in containing this virus—in all fifty states.

—not happening—and obviously we would know about it if it were happening.

We are _way_ too late—this stuff takes time, and we have run out of time.

With the way the Warriors have played this year, no big loss.

Coronavirus, in Veneto there is an emergency. Today a heartfelt appeal by the President of the Region Luca Zaia to all citizens: ‘Stay home - says the governor -, in 5 days, if the situation does not change, there will be a spike in intensive care.

I’m putting flutrackers link here because there are a lot of news items and information from Italy here, and Tetano is there first hand (pediatrician in N Italy)

Max 26 tests per day.

https://www.texastribune.org/2020/03/11/coronavirus-texas-community-spread-may-be-montgomery-county/

“The case raises questions about the number of unknown infections in Texas, given that government testing capacity for the COVID-19 disease remains limited. State officials estimated they had conducted “hundreds” of tests in recent weeks, but the largest public health lab in Texas is able to conduct a maximum of just 26 tests per day.”

“Dozens of Montgomery County residents are being tracked by public health workers, officials said, and Montgomery Independent School District will cancel classes beginning Thursday, ahead of spring break.”

As a veteran of 32+ cruises and 36 or more countries visited, I would be much more scared traveling to any 3rd world country, compared to a cruise on a modern cruise ship.

I am a numbers man due to my engineering background, and there are 300+ cruise ships prowling the oceans at any time, so in the last 2 months time there have been 300 x 8 = 2400 cruises, and only a couple of cruises are in the news with infections. Even the large Grand Princess ship has only 2 passengers got infected with the virus.

“The National Guard should be called—and receiving updated training on their role in containing this virus—in all fifty states.”

It appears China (and a few others in Asia) developed the model for real containment and mitigation.

Hard, mandatory quarantine. Severe travel restrictions. When needed, field hospitals.

It’s the only thing that has worked.

Which does not bode well for the western world.

HI

Doctor in Hamilton Ontario returned home from HI - Covid-19 positive
Today, 12:27

A Hamilton Health Sciences radiation oncologist is the city’s first confirmed positive case of COVID-19, a hospital spokesperson has confirmed.

On Wednesday, CBC learned that a staff member in her 30s tested positive for COVID-19 after returning from a personal trip to Hawaii. Since the doctor’s return to the hospital’s Juravinski Cancer Centre, she was in contact with both cancer patients and staff members.

Is that all the tests they have or is that the lab’s capacity? If that is the public health labs capacity, then the state needs to coordinate with LabCorp and other labs.

Tracked?

Is that like monitoring a bank robbery?

And...what happens to these school kids once SB is over?

This is VERY SAD that this person was in close contact with cancer patients, I find it hard to believe that her being a doctor working with cancer patients that she would go to work even with the symptoms of a mild cold cancer patients are vulnerable to ANYTHING what a STUPID doctor!!!
