The Kenya Wildlife Service was called to the reserve after it was reported the giraffes hadnt been seen in quite a while.
Upon finding the bones, wildlife officials estimated they had been there for at least four months.
This is a very sad day for the community of Ijara and Kenya as a whole. We are the only community in the world who are custodians of the white giraffes, said Mohammed Ahmednoor, manager of the reserve in Garissa County, Kenya, in a news release.
The animals got their unique coloring from a condition known as leucism, which is a genetic condition that causes the giraffes skin cells to fail to produce pigmentation. That results in white, pale or patchy coloration of their hide.
Unlike albinism, animals with leucism continue to produce a dark pigment in their soft tissue, meaning the giraffes eyes were dark.
The worlds tallest land animal has lost 40% of its population in just 30 years from poaching and wildlife trafficking, the African Wildlife Foundation estimates.

White giraffe? Thought you were talking’ bout Brandon Belt.
What kind of homo are you?
Quite the “sanctuary” there, Kenya.
They look like creatures from “Ancient Aliens”... but majestic and beautiful.
VERY VERY SAD!! Some damn people dont give a shit about anything, con you imagine coming across these two animals I would be in such AWE how could anyone pull a trigger???
So beautiful. Sad.
They look ‘other-worldly’
I guarantee you it was done to ship to the wonderful Chinese for some bullshit “medicinal” purpose at a high price on the black market. Disgusting. The trade of rare and endangered species into that country so they can eat it for some pagan type medical or health reason is astounding.
The mumbo-jumbo beat of the Congo.
Boomlay boomlay boomlay boom.
Yeah, they do. They look magical to me. Something far greater than me made them.
I think a lot of people don’t understand that animals have unique and individual spirits.
