McDonald’s to release smaller and bigger Big Macs

Whether you’re just a little hungry or starving, McDonald’s will soon offer a Big Mac to match.

The fast-food chain will release two new versions of the iconic burger Wednesday: the Little Mac and the Double Big Mac.

The Little Mac has just one beef patty, while the Double Big Mac has four. They’ll both still be topped with cheese, lettuce, pickles, onions and Special Sauce.

The Double Big Mac comes in at 720 calories; the Little Mac is 320 calories — the same as a medium fry.

Though the burgers’ prices will vary regionally, McDonald’s is recommending a price of $2.29 for the Little Mac and $5.49 for the Double Big Mac, McDonald’s spokeswoman Morgan O’Marra said.

Both burgers will be available for a limited time at select locations. McDonald’s did not say whether the new burgers would eventually be phased into the menu...

I’ve learned to like Bad Daddy’s.

There is one a couple of blocks from me. Very good ordering app.

Some Fridays I will order dinner on the way home. Handy when my wife prefers pasta. She will GrubHub it.

I always thought the Big Mac special sauce was just Thousand Island dressing.

Tried dressing up a burger at home to simulate a Mac but there’s nothing like McD’s flame broiling.

As noted, their fries have gone out of sight and they don’t even taste close to the original fries which IIRC were cooked in lard.

I guess calling it a Little Mac and a Bigger Mac would be out of the question.

Yeah now those sliders are almost a buck EACH!

Of course I remember when McDonalds was 15c for a burger and 10c for fries.

Don’t go anywhere near those if you know what’s good for you.

Their hamburgers are so small; they should call them sliders.

No, Big Mac sauce is much closer to Thousand Island dressing, as elcid1970 mentions.

If you have a desire to make an “upscale” Big Mac, then try using JFG brand “Sandwich Spread”, which is sold in most southern grocery stores and is exactly like Big Mac Sauce.

But what was the cost of living index then. Fifteen cents back then might equate to three dollars today.

Haven’t you noticed that Red Robin sucks for the high prices they charge for half-assed burgers? But then, so does McDonald’s.

If a burger joint wants to have a real top seller then all they have to do is to sell a burger with a thick patty and good beef. It you could buy a “Home” style hamburger at a fast food joint then it would be a huge seller.

15c back then is a buck nineteen today per this

https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

So the price of the basic McD burger has lagged inflation since they are about a dollar now.

28c gasoline would be 2.23 so that’s about on par, but of course fuel TAXES have increased to make them a much larger component of the price.

The irony is that today’s Big Mac is already the smaller version of the original Big Mac.
