At 50 infected per one dead, the North Koreans have 10,000 soldiers infected. Unless these soldiers were excessively exposed.

Is there any independent corroboration of the COVID-19 numbers in NK?

It’s like they know when I post a lot of links and bam! there’s a new thread so I’m always the last posting on the old one. I sent you some pings on the old thread earlier.

You are reading something into my post that isn’t there. I’m not characterizing any group as some kind of burden. But they most certainly are the most susceptible to COVID-19. It doesn’t matter how you “look at it”, they are the most likely to end up in ICU should they not take precautions to avoid it. And who said “handcuff” them? I’m saying older folks are smart enough that they will take these precautions upon themselves. They/we obviously have the most to lose. It goes without saying you can’t run your business if you’re on a respirator in ICU, or worse...

Just so folks are not confused, it is the number of increase numbers in SK that are decreasing. The number of new cases has been slowed, not stopped.

No small drain snake?

(Some newer sink drains / stoppers won’t let you get one in.)

Find tools, take drain plumbing apart.

Gotta be careful with old metal drain plumbing, though. “Draino” a few times, or even corrosion over time can eat it away from the inside. I’ve broken such easily with my bare hands.

“I read this, and it’s a you’re on your own.”

I suspect that most of us on these threads figured that out, probably a month ago. We’re on our own. We take care of those we love to the extent that we can, and we may well have to sacrifice things, like vacations, possibly even our jobs.

It didn’t have to be that way, and maybe in the future we’ll learn why it was such a mess at the federal level, but now we all just have to try our best to slog through it.

Precisely.

I wasn’t concise.

There are some on the main board that are using the decrease in the rate of positives as a signal for the ‘hoax all clear’.

So don’t be hysterical.
Pretty simple eh?

I’m just posting spreadsheet numbers based on reported factual data.

In order to know where you’re going you have to know where you came from

SPAIN

Coronavirus cases in Spain almost doubled in a single day, forcing schools to close in Madrid and raising doubts about Britons’ holidays.

Spain has the world’s sixth highest total of cases - with more than 1,230 infections and 31 deaths - and its capital is taking drastic measures to prevent it from spreading.

“Hysteria is not justified”

Generally true, but in this case hysteria seems to be the reasonable response.

Plumbing supplies were near the top of our prep list in late Jan/early Feb.

Especially replacement things for the toilet and fixit stuff for any leaks we might have.

Probably not too late to get that stuff but you might have to order it from a bigbox and have it delivered. Or venture to your local ace or order from ace.

There are LOTS of fixit videos on utube.

Some amazing posters in other threads—what scares me most about those posters is that they _will_ panic and they will do so _this_ _month_.

I would not want to be around them when that happens.

“Exposed Persons: With the shift from containment to mitigation, it is no longer necessary for someone who has been in contact with a person who has COVID-19 to quarantine for 14 days. This applies to the general public, as well as health care workers and first responders.”

This new Yuba/Placer policy highlighted in your link meshes with Sacramento’s policy here:

https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/chat/3823193/posts?page=9#9

I would rather have assurances that the EMTs that are going to come take me to the hospital, the nurses in the ER that are going to attend me and the doctors that are going to fix me, are virus-free.

The rest of the country is self and mandatory quarantining, setting up containment zones, having proved to work with the airlifts, stopping planes and trains, but hey, it’s California - who needs quarantines? Calif has 11K quarantines - did they open the doors and let em loose? Grandma is locked in her home, a future ‘mitigation statistic’, Grandpa can’t open his shop employing 100 people so there’s no jobs to go to, but the yoots in NorCal can keep partying like it’s 1999.

Color me furious.

Yea, I’ve been buying the same. Toilet rebuild kits, flapper valves, etc. Also, if you have copper plumbing, buy some flux, because that stuff stops working after a few years (at least for me it did). Likewise with PCV, be sure to have fresh glue and primer, for obvious reasons. Think of it as your first house - a real fixer-upper and everything you have that isn’t made of metal is not trustworthy (at least if you’re as old as me).

I think tomorrow morning will be my last food and supply run for a couple of weeks. I’ll see how this is plays out. I have plenty of meds and disinfectants. Need to top off the food, paper products, pet food and laundry detergent. Hubby will take care of the liquor.

“ It’s the 50-60yo’s that are the majority of business owners.“

Conscript the 20 somethings to mop and clean toilets in the hospitals and quarantine centers. Most of them just have retail and table waiting jobs, and we are buying everything online and not going out to eat anyway.
