New York Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, the No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, was arrested Thursday night after attempting to board a flight at LaGuardia Airport with a gun, according to The Athletics Connor Hughes.
At issue is Williams permit for the gun, which was reportedly valid for Alabama. Williams was reportedly arrested for criminal possession of a weapon by New Yorks Port Authority Police Department.

Genius!
This is the same team which famously had receiver Plaxico Burress go to jail for breaking NYC gun laws a few years ago.
After that the fact that anyone on their roster does not know the drill there is breathtaking.
Jes keepin’ it real!...................
I think this will end up being a potential Supreme Court case if it was merely in his checked bag and not in his carry-on.
I doubt if its the case here, but...
Years ago I went to a talk given by a 2A lawyer. He told the audience about a man he was representing who was arrested in New York City for possession of a rifle. The man was on a plane that landed in NYC as a stopover. The gun was in the luggage compartment.
The NYC cops knew about the gun because they had checked the planes manifest.
I believe that is a felony in New York.
I remember a story not long ago about a Nashville woman that was arrested with a gun in New York. She had just forgotten to leave her carry weapon at home.
That was the Giants not the Jets.
Plaxico played for the Giants. Williams plays for the Jets.
There is a question as to whether he was returning home to Alabama, or headed to Mexico for an event with other members of his representative Agency.
He has a valid concealed carry license for the weapon in Alabama, and has no previous record.

At issue for whom? Alabama licenses are not valid in New York. I feel bad for the guy, but even if it was in his checked luggage he didn’t have a license to possess it in New York. NY (and the NYPD/PAPD in particular) arrest pretty much everyone who checks in their luggage a pistol when they don’t have a pistol license that is valid in New York. When you go to check your gun at the counter with your baggage the folks for the airlines have been instructed to call the police over to inspect your license.
They were very sympathetic, and let me mail it back home. They even had a mail station right by the checkpoint. The TSA guy said they found at least a dozen such items every day.
Hes a big teddy bear.
Yeh, they said the same thing, but at the time I was so mortified, they might as well have pulled out a black widow spider.
OMG! A hijacking was prevented! /s
Gun is licensed in another state. Sue to toss out NY’s unconstitutional gun laws and establish national reciprocity.
I almost screwed up like that one time. Only the grace of God had me inadvertently packing a .38 in a piece of luggage that weighed in 1/2 pound overweight. In opening my luggage to transfer a pound or two of stuff into my wife’’s suitcase, I remembered my mistake and saved 1) our trip to Hawaii, and 2) my ass from going to the slammer.
So I empathize, since it may be that this guy had a similar moment of forgetfulness.
I stand corrected. Burress also played for the Jets but when the gun incident occurred he was with the Giants.
