"TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" is a 1974 hit recording by MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother) featuring vocals by The Three Degrees. A classic example of the Philadelphia soul genre, it was written by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff as the theme for the American musical television program Soul Train, which specialized in African American musical performers. The single was released on the Philadelphia International label. It was the first television theme song to reach number one on the Billboard Hot 100, and it is arguably the first disco song to reach that position.

The song is essentially an instrumental piece, featuring a lush blend of strings and horns in the Philadelphia soul style.

Here I go again, for another ride in that Hot Tub-Time Machine!....

When I heard that theme song it was usually Saturday.
Wrestling had just gone off on Channel 9, from Windsor, Ontario, Ca.
But it was still too early to see Sir Graves Ghastly, the host of Horror Movies shown into the afternoon.

Irish pseudo-soul band Dexy’s Midnight Runners did a pretty good cover of this tune as well.

Yep brings back memories of 1974, listening to top 40 radio stations, and hearing this song on heavy rotation.

That is one of my all time favorite songs.

Besides being a pretty good song, it brings me right back to a place in time...:)

Albion.
AT first, snowy, ghosty images from channel 50 on the UHF knob then THE WONDERS OF CABLE. Mr. Fetzer strung some wire and we got channel 50 clear as a bell.
