While in a war zone, the defendant allegedly gave sensitive national defense information, including the names of individuals helping the United States, to a Lebanese national located overseas, said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers. If true, this conduct is a disgrace, especially for someone serving as a contractor with the United States military. This betrayal of country and colleagues will be punished.

Defense contractor gave info to romantic interest who has ties to Hezbollah, feds say
Mariam Taha Thompson, 61, from Rochester, Minnesota, was arrested on Feb. 27 at a U.S. military facility in Irbil, Iraq.
Excerpt:
"The FBI said she passed the information along to a man with whom she had a romantic interest, knowing that he was a foreign national. The man "has apparent connections to Hezbollah," prosecutors said.
Court documents said Thompson admitting relaying the information by memorizing key points in classified documents, writing it down and sending an image of her notes by cellphone.
FBI agents said a handwritten note containing classified information about the sources was found under the mattress in her living quarters."

Buried in this DoJ release is a statement about ‘romantic interest’:
“Thompson transmitted the classified information in the handwritten note to a co-conspirator, in whom she had a romantic interest. The FBIs investigation revealed that Thompson knew the co-conspirator was a foreign national whose relative worked for the Lebanese government. The investigation also revealed that the co-conspirator has apparent connections to Hizballah.”
If the ‘romantic interest’ began in country, then it most likele was after her last security investigation.

I’m familiar with the security precautions to protect those people’s identities. This lady had some very high, specialized security clearance.

Treason is a true hanging offense and should be employed in this case.

It’s probably all over the mid-east, as it’s the name of a chapter in the Koran.
